Yea. In both instances, both Nephi and the Lafferty Bros, the fruits/results were that they killed someone according to a voice they heard. That suggests it might be the same voice.
Again, the fruits/results were much different.

MG
The fruit, ultimately, is the understanding that morality bends to authority.

That and hundreds of years of division and bloodshed.

:?: Look, the Lord works in mysterious ways. We don’t know why He wanted Charlie Kirk out of the way. We can speculate that he bore similar hallmarks to a certain Austrian in the 1920’s anns 30’s and perhaps didn’t want the world to go through all that again. But what we do know is that everything happens for a reason.
To be clear, this isn’t a strict doctrinal position of the church. While we understand that some events are part of a divine plan, many others are a direct result of the choices of individuals—both good and bad. So yes, everything happens for a reason…but it might be contrary to what God might like to see happen. There are just too many examples to think otherwise, in and out of the church and throughout history. But that’s not to say that God doesn’t know the end from the beginning when it comes to the final triumph of good over evil even though apostates might like to think otherwise.

Mzg
There you go again, MG 2.0, defying God's commandment. D&C 59:21 "In nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things and obey not his commandments." Just quite can't confess God's hand in all things can you? You are a MEGA Sinner.

If MG 2.0 you would confess God's hand in all things, everything else you do would not offend God nor kindle his wrath. Now repent, and in the future, confess God's hand in all things, including Tyler Robinson's assissination of Charlie Kirk.

I suppose you can find application to this scripture in a way that supports a view that ultimately cannot support faith. This is apparently what happened in your case.

So is your God verbally challenged? Did he not mean what was plainly stated by Joseph Smith as a revelation from God? Or is it Joseph Smith that was unreliable?

That’s the problem, sock puppet. Determining what God actually is/was saying. I think we all ought to be careful in scriptural exegesis as we navigate the larger world and our place in it. God and His ways are much bigger than you are giving Him credit for methinks.

Context is everything.

Some posters would benefit from knowing/practicing that in good faith.

So God did not mean "all things" even though Joseph Smith claimed God did? Which of them was playing fast and loose with language? Give us some other examples of his or his sloppiness in verbal usage.

All things, in my opinion, refers to our recognition of the blessings of God in our lives. That ultimately all blessings come from God. When people do stupid things or nature takes its course, that is accounted/allowed for in God’s plan but generally I don’t think we give thanks for those things until after the fact if we come out having become stronger in faith and/or more capable to meet life’s challenges. If we or others are hurt or even die or become maimed or invalid we put those things in God’s hands.

So we still allow for God’s hands in all things in that respect.

Yes it is.
While we understand that some events are part of a divine plan, many others are a direct result of the choices of individuals—both good and bad.
When you say “we” that gets you are speaking on behalf of others. Who are they and do they know you are their spokesperson?
So yes, everything happens for a reason…but it might be contrary to what God might like to see happen.
And it might be exactly what God would like to see happen.
There are just too many examples to think otherwise, in and out of the church and throughout history. But that’s not to say that God doesn’t know the end from the beginning when it comes to the final triumph of good over evil even though apostates might like to think otherwise.

So Kirk’s death might have been a bad thing, but it might also have been a good thing, you just don’t know but are assuming God does know?

Who is Mzg?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
