Yes, so long as it isn't mean-spirited or dickish.Hound of Heaven wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 11:21 amDr. Shades, is it permissible in Spirit Paradise to initiate a thread that leans towards parody, spoof, or satire? And if it is, as long as I adhere to the rules and the daily actions taken on the board, can I humorously tease the members of the board?Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 7:34 amRegarding your second sentence, remember how MG 2.0 drove grindael off the board due to the former’s constant questioning of the latter’s supposed—but not proven—methodological assumptions, possible biases, etc. while never engaging the actual substance of what grindael posted? Well beforehand, such content was considered ON topic, annoying as it was, and wasn’t split. Thanks to Res Ipsa’s suggestion, such content is now considered OFF topic and will be counted as a derail, possibly hostile, and split into its own thread.
Regarding your first sentence, that’s correct, because MG 2.0 now gets the same protection that grindael should’ve gotten. That’s what I wanted people to be careful what they wished for, uh, about.
Nevertheless, hostile derailments can or will be split off just like they always were. The only difference is, as I explained, there’s now another category of post that will now be considered a hostile derailment. All previous categories remain in force, too.

Essentially, the determination of what is deemed mean-spirited or "dickish" rests with Canpakes, as it permits the more progressive members of the board to exhibit such behavior consistently and without consequence. Canpakes does not enforce the rules equitably.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 4:25 pmYes, so long as it isn't mean-spirited or dickish.Hound of Heaven wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 11:21 amDr. Shades, is it permissible in Spirit Paradise to initiate a thread that leans towards parody, spoof, or satire? And if it is, as long as I adhere to the rules and the daily actions taken on the board, can I humorously tease the members of the board?
For example, if I share an image without any accompanying text, Canpakes automatically places that picture in a thread specifically designated for posts he considers to be against the rules. However, Dr. Cam and every Wang Chung consistently share images without ever receiving any communication from Canpakes.
In the past month, Kishkumen and Schmo have made jokes that could be considered mean-spirited, while Canpakes has not made any effort to address their behavior. However, if I initiate a thread featuring a crude joke in an effort to humorously achieve the same result, Canpakes deletes my thread.
Canpakes lets his fellow progressives bend the rules frequently, yet when Marrk forgets just once to provide a link to a video, Canpakes swiftly highlights it in red to ensure everyone is aware of his so-called transgression.
This is the introduction to my thread. Is this unkind or "dickish"? And if it is, why are progressives permitted to be unkind and "dickish" without facing any repercussions?

It's been pretty clear for a while now that manipulating people's usernames into rude parodies is not in the spirit of our rules.

OOPS!! For some reason I was thinking you were referring to the Super Spirit Paradise forum, which would be equivalent to our Mormonism-related Celestial Forum. Go ahead and post in the Spirit Paradise forum, just so long as it's like you say and only a parody as opposed to a blatant personal attack.Hound of Heaven wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:37 pmEssentially, the determination of what is deemed mean-spirited or "dickish" rests with Canpakes, as it permits the more progressive members of the board to exhibit such behavior consistently and without consequence. No, it's fine. This is the introduction to my thread. Is this unkind or "dickish"?

I appreciate you taking the time to consider my complaint and for ensuring that the rules are applied fairly, regardless of the political or religious affiliations of the participants on your free speech board. You are undoubtedly both kind and knowledgeable!Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:25 amOOPS!!
