Well. I linked Moksha to an article a couple of days ago that bottom lined NG use in DC for the protests:Lem wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 5:40 pmDelusional. Like the current President of the US, then?Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 5:20 pmLemmie,
What does a dog do when they catch a car?
If I had to guess she probably thought everyone would bust through the barrier, arrest Congress with their bare hands, and then string them up at the gallows that were erected outside. Don’t ask me how they thought that could actually happen, though. Anyone that was there yesterday were delusional and brainwashed by right-wing propaganda.

I just listened to a press conference of D.C. law enforcement and officials. It sounds like they were surprised the Capitol would be breached, or at least they are saying that now. The Mayor did say that even if she had National Guard deployment rights as a State Governor does, she couldn't have sent them to the Capitol steps on her own say, if I heard her correctly.
What did she mean? Is there a loophole regarding who can do what regarding federal property vs. State/district security? Is that why they couldn't act faster? Was it Trump's job to deploy National Guard to the Capitol building? I understand it was, in the end, Pence who organized a federal response.
If it turns out the White House could have but didn't act in a timely manner (i.e. 6 to 8 hours) to protect the Capitol Building and lawfully designated lawmaker, in my opinion, that's a clear act of treason on the part of Trump.
My understanding is the NG was to be used in a passive capacity to free up the DC police and Capitol police to, uh, protect the Capitol. Since the DC NG is a non-fed entity, more or less, the President or Veep had to activate them, which takes time and planning and coordination. There’s a LOT of planning and deconflicting that goes into using the NG on American soil, especially if you start edging into other agencies’ lanes.According to a U.S. defense official, Bowser put in a request on New Year’s Eve to have Guard members on the streets from Tuesday to Thursday to help with the protests. The official said the additional forces will be used for traffic control and other assistance but they will not be armed or wearing body armor. Congress is meeting this week to certify the Electoral College results, and Trump has refused to concede while whipping up support for protests.
Some 340 D.C. National Guard members will be activated, with about 115 on duty in the streets at any given time, said the defense official, who provided details on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The official said Guard members will be used to set up traffic control points around the city and to stand with district police officers at all the city’s Metro stops. Contee said Guard troops will also be used for some crowd management.
So, of course the President didn’t do that because he and his administration are idiots. Not that matters to people like Xanax and the jenius because nothing matters to them except for feeling aggrieved at having to pay taxes and other pet issues.
If it were me? I would’ve set up a defensive perimeter around the Capitol with all sorts of assets on hand to nab n’ grab agitators who crossed it. I wouldn’t have tolerated anyone disrupting our democratic process.
But Trump was flirting with insurrection, wasn’t he? He even told the protestors that very day, behind his bullet proof glass facade, that he was going to literally march with them into the Capitol. They literally thought he was going to lead them in their revolution. So OF COURSE he didn’t want the Capitol defended. He was under the delusion he’d waltz into the Capitol, his supporters would seize it for him, and he’d declare whatever and stay in power.
The man should be 25th’d.
