Am I missing something or aren't they riding the middle line? I really don't think any have vocally backed the election results very forcefully. Of course, they've got a big problem here. If I'm a Republican, and suddenly my representatives are swearing by the integrity of the election and admitting defeat, I've got to ask, what changed? Were you lying before? Why are you compromising your standards now? How can they forcefully back the election now, and look credible to their base?

But, it might be worth starting with a clean slate and apologizing, and telling the truth now? From what I've read, the Republican solution to the problem is to carry guns themselves into the capitol. lol.

Yet even after all that twisting and evasion, even Jim Jordan finally, reluctantly admitted "The election was not stolen." Now if only someone could somehow get Trump to say those same words. Unfortunately, though, after all the effort Trump has made to convince his rabid base to the contrary, even that would not convince a substantial proportion of them.

As I understand it, Pelosi talked to the military about somehow keeping Trump away from access to military action, and the answer seemed to be- we are obligated to obey orders, it's YOUR job to get him out of office if he's incapable. I wonder if that's why this particular word was included:

Think about the implication for a second. Eight Generals, Eight! Put their names on a Memorandum for the Military reminding them that they will not be used against the American people in an unconstitutional manner. I don’t know what kinds of discussions and politicking have been going on since the 6th, but the fact that these men felt the need to remind everyone what the American military is for was unnerving. That memo wasn’t for us or the military, in my opinion. That memo was aimed directly at the 5th columnist seditionists in the White House and Congress.

Further to point above regarding lawful orders, below is the current oath for enlisted in the USMC (since 1962).

Please note that:
- First priority obligation is to the Constitution.
- Second is to the President, and
- Third to authorized officers (superordinates).

Enlisted Oath: I, ___, do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all
enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will
bear true faith and allegiance to the
same; and that I will obey the orders of the
president of the United States and the orders
of the officers appointed over me, according

of Military Justice. So help me God.

Considering that the highest duty is to the Constitution, a member of the military is only obligated to obey the lawful orders of an authorized superordinate. This can get very messy The military as a profession has an extremely low opinion of lower rank individuals who decline to obey orders on what they believe, or claim, to be legal or constitutional grounds.

However, in the case of Trump, I think the Pentagon Joint Chiefs have made the right choice clear and a lot safer.

An estimated 2,000 members of the (National) Guard are on Capitol Hill right now. They have deployed in full riot gear and protective equipment and are allowed to use lethal force in self-defense if necessary.

About 6,200 have traveled to the nation's capital from six nearby states and at least 10,000 are expected to be deployed by Saturday.
