Does Mitt believe in Jesus?

Romney spokesman Kevin Madden defended the presidential candidate's response. "Gov. Romney simply believes that a public office is a public trust," Madden said. "He believes when a public official enters a guilty plea, they have broken that public trust and should step aside for the sake of their constituents."

Does Mitt believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ? Does Mitt believe that all have fallen short, as the Gospel teaches, and that by faith and repentence, our sins may become white as snow?

Or does Mitt only care about maintaining a sqeaky-clean, return missionary (and one who never masterbated at that) facade? Does Mitt only care about portraying, militantly, a faux department-store-picture-frame-family picture-insert of the Mormon lifestyle that many teens have committed suicide over for falling short of, or is there room in Mitt's gospel, and his heart, for the prodigal son?

Does Mitt believe in repentance? Or does he only believe in ruling by the iron fist of present-day Mormon fascism? Jesus requested the pharisees, those rotten snakes, to refrain from throwing their stones. But like a modern-day Hitler, Mitt stretches his hand forth, palm open and downturned, and demands the public to fire at will. By leading the masses in a show of "public distrust", he secretly aligns them, tempting them with self-righteousness, to his valiant and incorruptible cause.

For all the Mormon talk about their gospel of Jesus, it's too bad they can't get a candidate out who believes in his message.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Repentance? It looks to me like Sen. Larry Craig is not repenting. I see no contrition. I see denial. Now if Sen. Craig was falsly accused, then he indeed need not regret his actions.

Anyhow, I'm not a fan of the squeky clean image thing. I want a politician who protects my rights and doesn't steal my money. If only.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

What's really too bad is that an atheist, agnostic, or naturalist has to lie about their philosophical beliefs in order to get elected, because that's what this country really needs. We need a leader who doesn't pray, who doesn't make decisions based on the belief in the apocalypse, and who doesn't think the way to build a legacy is by perpetuating a ridiculous personal holy war.

This is why the world is slowly getting sick of religion. Thank nature.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

What an absolutely stupid post and one that once again demonstrates why non believers run into major problems when they use the religion that they reject to judge those who believe it by. Since I think Gad was once LDS I cannot believe he has distorted the issue of the atonement so badly.

Let me explain it. Romney can forgive Craig and even leave Craig's final judgment up to the lord. However he, as all of us do, need to be prudent in all that we say and do and who and what we tie ourselves to.

Of course this is no win for Romney. Had he come out in Craig's defense I am sure you would have condemned him for associating with such a person. In fact that has already been done by PP on another thread.

You people really are pieces of work at times.
