t this point it is not so much that they piss me off, as it is that I think that the "good people" on their "side" actually seem to respect them when they clearly should be reigning them in. I find it utterly astounding that of all the true believers over there, none will say "hey, Selek, please quit with the vulgarities"-- they are largely cowards.
mms, you think we're cowards but that's because you haven't figured out the board rules yet. We are not allowed to tell Selek to quit with the vulgarities. Believe me, I've done it in the past and I've been reprimanded for it; more than once. Board rules are that we are supposed to address the content of a post and not discuss the tone or the poster. If a poster is rude ( as Selek has been to you) we've been told to report the thread to the mods and let them handle it.
They are very quick to make comments to me when they think I have erred (right, LOAP?) and I have not come close to the kinds of statements these guys make.
and here you've found one of the real drawbacks of the board. Pro-LDS who are liked and accepted are allowed to make personal comments about critics--they are also allowed to be vulgar. If it is egregious, they will get a slap-and if really bad, a suspension. But it's pretty rare. So far, I don't believe any pro-LDS has been banned. Except for maybe one from last year who was so UBER-LDS, he got on the regulars nerves on a regular basis and kept starting threads even though he'd been told not to.
Why wouldn't LOAP have said, "hey, Selek, is this what you are about, come on now."??? A bunch of cowards who are entirely incapable of aplying the same standard to themselves that they do to others. So, although I know there is little hope for Selek or Pahoran to change their ways, maybe the more open minded among their "team" will ultimately see how cowardly they have been in the face of obvious double standards. Then again, maybe not.
LOAP would probably lose his good standing with the long-timers if he started board nannying--and making comments like you suggested is what is considered board nannying. Unless some of the regulars have an epiphany or the board gets new management, I don't expect anything to change there.
If we want to say anything about the other posters at MADB, we have to bring it here. Which is one reason why there are MADB threads on this board.
