Well sometimes people just post one or two messages on the board and they're jumped on. Really, does everyone have to state everything about themselves before anyone takes them seriously?

I was very careful when I first started posting on MAD and repeatedly stated my purpose for being there. That I was not anti-LDS, and yet still some people just couldn't wrap their brains about it. It's too bad really. It's more of a newbie status (if you're not a practicing LDS, or you're a questioning LDS) there, I believe, then anything else.

I love this part:

"It is like laying a trap. Many of us here have been sucked into responding in good faith to such a person, offering an answer only to be jumped on as the troll thinks he springs his trap. Only we have yet to see any trap with teeth in it. And trolls have to run for the hills with their tails between their legs."

Do you ever think Charity that some, who are labled as trolls, come with real questions and feel scared and angry and believe they have been lied to. They don't like to hear or read that Joseph Smith sent Orson Hyde on a mission and then "married" his wife.

And then those who take the sacrament each sunday and repeat amen to "always remember him" "and keep his commandments that he has give them"; that they might always have his spirit to be with them" jump on, taunt, laugh, mock those with real questions. Who are those who "run to the hills with their tails between their legs"? More likely they are put to sleep by banning them in the Nazi type environment ran by card carrying Mormons.

"charity never faileth" oh please - spare me.

Have you ever observed the trolls that occasionally show up in MA&D?

I will give you a dialogue that shows what I mean.

Troll: I am new here and don't know much about the Mormon church, so could you answer a simple question? Why do you think Joseph Smith was a prophet.

naïve LDS: Because he gave us God's word in many recorded revelations.

Troll: But I think maybe I heard somewhere that not all his prophecies came true. And isn't that what the Bible says means a person is a false prophet?

naïve LDS: I'm not aware of any prophecies that were not either fulfilled, or are still not ready to be fulfilled yet.

Troll: Then what about. . . . [and here comes a cut and paste list a yard long from an anti-Mormon site.]

Not so naïve LDS: You have a list of items of prophecies, conditional prophecie, and other people's uncorroborated stantements.

Troll: So you can't answer me, huh. This is what I get all the time from you lying, deceiving Mormons.

LDS with eyes wide open: TROLL ALERT!

Turn the other cheek. Those who take upon themselves the name of Christ are required to turn the other cheek. And when they don't, they aren't living their religion. It's really that simple, charity.

Is this a standard that is going to be applied to everyone here, or just me? Or do we need a little lecture on hypocrisy, too?

Can you give a recent example of this behavior on MAD?
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

That is the standard that is applied to those who profess to follow Christ, no matter where they are. I didn't set that standard; Christ did. Do you consider yourself exempt from that standard?

I think you should deliver your lecture to MAD believers who regularly engage in behavior that would not be tolerated in critics.

Funny, I remember Juliann repeatedly calling me a liar and a plagiarist on MAD without any moderator censure (other than cleaning up her posts behind her), yet there are several posters here who were banned from MAD without the slightest justification.

harmony and beastie:

I can't speak for the moderators at MA&D because I am not one. I haven't seen anyone banned at MA&D who was not first given warning about a behavior that was not going to be allowed, but then the poster repeated it and was booted. There may have been situations I was not aware of. I was off the board for 3 months summer of 2006 when I was in a rehab center because I broke my knee.

I can't give you a specific instance of a troll situation for 2 reasons. If the troll thread becomes absolutely outrageous it can be deleted. Secondly, and most importantly, I don't want to take the time to go back and search. If you want to believe I am one of those "lying, deceiving Mormons" go ahead. It is the standard rule for the most rabid anti-Mormons to reject everything a Mormon says. I hope you aren't one of them.

About turning the other cheek. I really don't see how it applies to telling a person who is a troll to go play in another sandbox. I am for turning the other cheek, generally speaking. Ignore the street preachers. Sing hymns when they try to yell at us. Pray for the soul of the guy waving a pair of garments in the air and then throwing them down to stomp on them.

But calling a troll a troll? The Savior didn't seem to balk at calling people on their behavior.

Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! . . .

In fairness, Charity is not a troll, either by the standard definition or by her definition.

This is because I've never seen her say, "Oh, I just want to know. . ." and then change her tune halfway through. She is always upfront about her opinions and posts in response to this point or that point.

In my opinion, of course.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
