Is that clearer?

Yes, thank you.

Admittedly, this idea makes it possible that, while the earth was created in a telestial state, at some point, after 4.5 or so billion years of preparation, it was raised, for a short time, to a paradisaical state so Adam could fall. I am saying that this "raising" could be understood as a 'creation". That's not Church doctrine of course, but right now, its the only way I can see to have both "creation in a paradisaical state" and the obvious mortality that obtained for billions of years prior to the Fall.

Do you see what I'm getting at here?

I think so. For the moment, I would only question the notion that the whole earth was in this state while Adam and Eve were ripening in the Garden.

Its really quite simple, heres Chi-chi to explain:

Man was CREATED IN the image of God. Any evolution that has taken place has taken place from the time of Noah till now.

Period.

This seems, however, to be the general trend of General Authority teaching since the Church's inception. Are there any GAs who have expressed alternative views (especially Church presidents)?

The Church teaches, to the best of my understanding (and this is what I've always been taught, from Seminary to Institute to Gospel Doctrine class, out of Church manuals) that the entire earth was in a Paradisaical state at the point at which Adam fell, and that fall brought death upon the entire earth. Adam's fall brought mortal conditions upon the entire planet. Hence, Christ will redeem, not only mankind, but the entire earth and all organic life upon it. The Fall was universal, and hence, resurrection and salvation from the Fall is universal, and covers all things created by Christ and under his authority and power.

This seems to be settled doctrine. How could this be reconciled with a limited geographic area subject to paradisaical conditions?
