The Dude wrote:You're kidding but there's always truth in a joke. You will fall away, Will. It's inevitable. Your beard and hair over the collar are sure signs of impending apostasy.
You, of course, are the one who -- more than anyone else -- has helped me to come to this point in time. You made me realize that, no matter the cost in terms of how others might view you and act toward you, you have to be man enough -- no,
Dude enough -- to stand up for what you believe, or don't believe, as the case may be.
By the way, I haven't seen
No Country for Old Men yet. It never played here in my little hamlet in southern Utah. I need to go get the DVD and watch it --- it's been released on DVD, right?
Of course, your favorite Cohen brothers movies are different ones than mine are. At least I think they are. My favorite (in fact, it's my current favorite movie of all time) is
Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, followed closely by
The Hudsucker Proxy. I kind of got the impression that
No Country was more like
Miller's Crossing, and so I haven't been as enthusiastic as I might have been if it were a comedy. At any rate, the Cohen brothers are, in my opinion, the best American filmmakers at this point in time.
