I don't know what Tarski is laughing at. Yet, I'm still laughing at you. When you "service" your God I hope you exclaim "Oh my goodness gracious" regularly!

He could allow or even command homosexual acts. I don't anticipate it.

Math professor. There is a difference. And 3 questions:
1. This is a yahoo chat?
2. What do you know of my weight?
3. Trolling?
when believers want to give their claims more weight, they dress these claims up in scientific terms. When believers want to belittle atheism or secular humanism, they call it a "religion". -Beastie

Ouch! Sounds like you are just lashing out, LOP. I'm sure some board will let you be a moderator, someday. I never said it would be easy: only that it would be worthit.

Well put, Gad! Of course god could order homosexuality, as he did polygamy, murder, genocide, mutilation, drowning, the downfall of the human race, etc. Homosexuality is probably next on His Exhalted list of challenges to human faith. It must be next.

What about human abortion? Yea, even late-term. Symbolic of Jesus' sacrifice, of course, since a fetus is without sin.

LoaP just isn't mature enough to recognize that Gad's argument is not only right, but has already been conceded by wade elsewhere:

On the Wade and Shermer thread, we were discussing the idea that NAMBLA adheres to: that it's beneficial for young boys to have sex with older men. My original point was to clearly demonstrate that shermer was correct, and that intelligent people can and do form beliefs for reasons that have nothing to do with their intelligence, but then use that intelligence to construct defenses of those beliefs. But the conversation took an interesting turn when I asked wade:

How about if God revealed to his prophet, and then verified to you, that it was good for men to have sex with young boys? Would your opinion change then?

Wade's answer:
I don't know for sure? It depends on the strength and nature of the verification. It's possible that I might change my opinion after reasoning the matter through. However, I tend not to give such valueless (to me) hypotheticals much thought, since they tend not to reflect my experience in this world.

LoaP just hasn't been in Mormon apologetics long enough to recognize the truth about his own belief system. Whatever God says, goes, even if directly contradicts God's previous commandments.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

It makes more sense to say that one could claim that God ordered anything, since there's no evidence that "God" has ordered any or all of the things asserted in the OP. As those are just human claims, any human claim could be asserted similarly without verification.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.

Well, since there is no god, of any sort, this is a false premise. Homosexuality is just normal. It's replete throughout nature. The idea that there's an invisible man-god ordering people to be homosexual is... Well, it's... It's probably one of the most absurd things I've ever been asked to imagine.

Big Gay Man-God (with an ascot): Hellooo!!! Hey there you little yummy man thingies. Since y'all are in some SERIOUS need of color coordinating and clearly lack the ability to dance, I'm hereby ordering to be gay like me! Yay! Now, go on and get those fishnet sleeveless shirts on you silly little gooses! Mwah! Love ya!

Most Men: crap.

Some Men: *squeal!!*

Madonna: Zephyr in the sky at night I wonder
Do my tears of mourning sink beneath the sun
She's got herself a universe gone quickly
For the call of thunder threatens everyone

And I feel like I just got home
And I feel
And I feel like I just got home
And I feel

Faster than the speeding light she's flying
Trying to remember where it all began
She's got herself a little piece of heaven
Waiting for the time when Earth shall be as one

Quicker than a ray of light
Quicker than a ray of light
Quicker than a ray of light

And I feel
Quicker than a ray of light
Then gone for
Someone else shall be there
Through the endless years

She's got herself a universe
She's got herself a universe
She's got herself a universe

And I feel
And I feel
And I feel like I just got home
And I feel

Quicker than a ray of light she's flying
Quicker than a ray of light I'm flying
You can’t trust adults to tell you the truth.

If wade said it, it's got to be true. I guess I'm too young to understand. I better go back to the kids table where everyone is just as egocentric, but less pretentious.
