Sex is not what polygamy is about. A oneness and an attempt at making heaven here on earth is what its about.

Oneness? Seriously Gaz this is silliness. :-)

If polygamy is not about sex (and power and control and ego), then why have it at all?

Why isn't being sealed to one's father enough?

Why do men have to "own" women to be one with God? Where is the connection?

Why do women need to attach themselves to a husband in order to be one with God?

Why does becoming animalistic move us closer to oneness with God?

Why does God care what name one has? What does it have to do with one's oneness with God? Does God really care if I use the last name of my father rather than the last name of my husband?

What about all the "raising up seed" stuff?

Polygamy does not add to intimacy, closeness, and love, it DETRACTS from it, thwarts it, removes it from the equation. People don't move closer to holiness, they move away from it. Men and women don't become closer, more intimate, more loving, they become LESS close, intimate and love.

This whole "name" thing makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. Really, Gaz, think about it. Think it through.

In your own scriptures God said it was an abomination. He gave no exceptions to this. NONE. He didn't say it was a holy practice, or some ultimate way of life... HE said it was an abomination and breaks the hearts of his daughters. What part of this don't you believe?

The reality, is, polygamy is a left over archaic practice that has nothing to do with God. Rich, powerful, ego hungry men may have owned many women in ancient days (and even today) but this says nothing about God regardless of how some men may want to fantasize that it will be their eternal future.

How about genocide including the killing of babies (as seen in the Old Testament)?

Correct

Uh, yeah. How about beastiality? Is that of God when it is commanded by God?

And what, in the plan of salvation, could be accomplished by asking a man to do this?

Probably about as much as is accomplished from the killing of babies as a part of genocide.

Latex is ok too, right? If not, I suppose condoms are out of the question not to mention . . .

Sometimes burning a field to make it more fertile can be a painful thing, but necessary nonetheless.

There is a huge difference between sacrificing your own life and sacrificing someone else's life especially when we're talking about innocent babies. If God wants to do genocide, He could have them all die of a plague instead of having us kill each other. If God needs me to put my life in jeopardy by going into battle to defend my property, freedom, and life I can see benefit in it. I see absolutely no benefit in having me run a sword through a suckling child who obviously will not jeopardize my life, freedom, or property.

Abman, surely you recognize that Gaz would never believe this kind of bullshyte as a normal person, but because the foundation of his religious beliefs requires it, he'll believe anything. This is harmful, and it's directly attributable to religious belief.

On the rare occasion that God asked for a group of people to be killed, keep in mind he included the destruction of all of their property. It wasn't about killing babies, it was about the total destruction of a culture. The destruction of a mindset and the ideas that had infected that group of people.

Gods work and glory is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man. If the lives of billions is on the line, he will think nothing of taking the lives of a few thousand.

So then, if God wants to irradicate dangerous ideas like maybe Nazism, then we're justified in killing all babies of Nazi people as long as we destroy all their property too? Sorry, but I'm not buying it.

Gods work and glory is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man. If the lives of billions is on the line, he will think nothing of taking the lives of a few thousand.

I'm fine with God taking those lives. Why do I need to be God's henchman? It makes no sense and frankly strikes me as not only illogical, but immoral and very, very disturbing.

Last I checked, our constitution (inspired by God) did not consider evil culture, mindset, and ideas to be a capitol offnse--quite the contrary. Our constitution protects unpopular, even repulsive ideas so long as those ideas do not present clear dangers to property, life, or liberty. Worshipping the wrong God is protected--something that the Old Testament isn't very tolerant of.
