Call em what ever you like.

They were Mormon men, doing what their leaders told them to do.

Who are you saying were 'their leaders'? Because there isn't a clear connection between Brigham and them. At least not yet. And until there is, it's very difficult to give any credence to your words (when you exaggerate as much as Scratch does).
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Their direct leaders told them to participate, the man in charge of each group told them to execute the man, woman, or child next to them.

No direct link to Brigham explicitly giving the execution order? None needed.

His actions after the fact speak quite loudly.

Additionally, WHY would these Mormon men feel the need to ASK Brigham if they should kill these people?

in my opinion, the LDS church made a bad choice back in 1890-1904. They should have distanced themselves from Brigham, called him a fallen prophet, and all of the crap from Young would be a none issue to the current LDS church.

They could say "Yes, he did order the massacre, yes he did say this, that, and the other bizarro crap, but yanno what? We ditched his sorry ass and those who followed his counsel. He did not die, god took his sorry ass from the earth! So yes he was bad, but we are not because we broke off from him... Just ask the researchers at WWU(Wilford Woodruff University) in Provo!

LOL. B&L knows that the book is "lame" even though he's never read it and probably hasn't even seen it.

For certain illustrative purposes, it would be simply impossible to improve on him.

I had it on order at Amazon, but after listening to them talk about it on KUER, I canceled my order.

Their tone was enough. I don't need to read their book to know it why it was written. I no longer consider myself a member and therefore have no need to believe that Brigham was innocent.

Do your duty can mean a lot more other things than religious duty. My Marine son does his duty every day. The Mormons at MMM may have been doing a duty in some other sense as well.

I hope you read the book. You seem to pass a lost of conclusions without having done so yet.

My comments weren't about the book, Jason. They were about the interview.

I'll probably break down and order/read the book. The only reason I hesitate is because I spent my book allowance the week before and I'm trying to discipline myself more in that regard. Amazon adores me.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Sorry. I misread your comments.

I understand. I have the same problem. Then I often get way behind on my reading and still order more books. Too much to do and not enough time.

I have to say that I was not encouraged by Ronald Walker's contribution to the Whitney documentary in which he claimed he was reassured to find that Brigham Young had had nothing to do with the massacre. I guess I should give him the benefit of the doubt and take his statement to mean that Brigham did not personally order the massacre. One cannot say, I should think, that Brigham bears absolutely no culpability for contributing to a situation that was likely to bear some very ugly fruit.

Well, I just ordered the book on Amazon, so I will get to judge for myself.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”
