That has been true in a handful of cases. The sums are small, but they do exist.

No problem. I know you're trying to be accurate and fair, and I appreciate it. (It's refreshing.)

I never said that.

Mister Scratch wrote:Criticism of those who aren't "getting in line", using financial grounds, is still on-going. The apologists at FAIR, for example, really hammered on R. Meldrum, accusing him of being in "the game" purely for financial greed.

Whether the apologists at FAIR actually said that or not, FAIR is not FARMS or the Maxwell Institute.

And doing apologetics "purely for financial greed" would be rather different, in any case, from doing apologetics via a well-funded organization but for little or no money at all. The former would seem to be obviously reprehensible, but it isn't at all clear that the latter would be.

Where is the part of the FAIR response about money?
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

Well, my recommendation, and of course I understand the relative value of my recommendation, would be to organize your arguments against apologists' methods of denigrating critics and marginal Mormons into a coherent piece of writing. We could, after all, go the rounds with this forever, and still never connect any punches. As Dr. Peterson points out above, FAIR is not the NMI. But, you do make a fair point when you show that the tactic continues to be used.

That isn't what you guys are doing. As the tax forms demonstrated, you have millions and millions of dollars. For all you and FAIR know, Meldrum simply put whatever money he made back into his apologetics.

The former would seem to be obviously reprehensible, but it isn't at all clear that the latter would be.

It seemed clear enough to Allen Wyatt.

Does anyone know where the FAIR response to Meldrum he was accused of being in the game for financial reasons?

Not even if he pinky swears to keep it a secret?
