Is there really Book of Mormon Archaeology?
We know some scholars agree the Bible has many locations that have proven to be archaelogical sites. It is basically a record of a region.
Has even one Book of Mormon archaelogical site been found?
Were any of the bones of the few hundred thousand killed in New York around the Hill Cumorah ever found? The armament, breastplates, metal swords and the like? Anything?
Has anything written in Hebrew, Egyptian or any closely allied language ever been found in the Book of Mormon lands from Canada to Chile? Anything at all? I know some Norse writings have been found in Greenland but know of no 'nephite or lamanite' writings that would give even a clue as to Hebrew origins.
BYU teaches 'Book of Mormon archaelogy'. How do you teach as a scientific discipline a myth?

Does anything like that have to be known to exist now in order for the Book of Mormon to be true?

Yes. It's not that the Book of Mormon can be proven to be true. Rather, it's the ease at which it's proven to be untrue.

How would the supposed lack of such evidence prove it untrue? That's quite unscientific.

And why would any historical truth be required to appreciate the symbolic truths of the Book of Mormon?

Sure there is, in 2004, they dug up an 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon in Kirtland, Ohio when excavating for a new Piggly-Wiggly.

I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

If the history never existed, how can the claim be true?

Re: Is there really Book of Mormon Archaeology?
The most logical place to go for Book of Mormon archeology is in upstate New York, on and around the Hill Cumorah. This is where Joseph Smith claimed he found the gold plates. They were buried on that hill by Moroni. The Hill Cumorah in New York is the last location a Book of Mormon person was known to exist. For some reason, the Book of Mormon archeology is focused on Central America.

Re: Is there really Book of Mormon Archaeology?
I think the first step in "Book of Mormon Archaeology" would be to find the Book of Mormon artifacts that were claimed to exist (and be in Joseph's possession) in 1829 (other than the Gold Plates and U&T)
- Laban's sword
- Ancient breastplate
- Liahona
- stone box of ancient construction

Moroni is storing them in my closet until he comes to get them.
