Hey Scratch,

Wow, talk about a blast from the past! I barely remember those comments, although I certainly remember thinking them. This blog entry was about a month or two ago, and he's quoting stuff from at least three-four years ago! That is some burning resentment there (either that or this guy takes pleasure in reading from old MAD archives... now that's entertainment!

Anyway, as you pointed out, it's pretty funny that he claims I've made an unfounded assertion saying most people (educated or not) reject the church. Oh wait... I get it! They had to listen! So apparently, my statically sound assertion is suspect because it comes with no proof, but his assertion that very few people actually listen and understand the gospel should just be taken as a given.

That's apologetics for ya.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Wow. And to think that these people actually complain when Scratch reaches back into their cyber-archives and digs out an oldie but goodie.

You have earned your wings if you are finally up on SHIELDS.

SHIELDS is the first line of defense in the smear campaign created by the Apologists.

Daniel C. Peterson can go “F” himself.
I wish Thom-Ass Monson would shut his round pie hole.
David Bednar can take his pickles, and shove them up his ass.

There, can I please be up on SHIELDS too? Look at this awful Anti Mormon and what he is saying.

Who gives a crap about the Apologist's sandbox?

It is nothing more than a place where Apologists can go to be as un Jesus like as I am. They can't write the same things on FARMS now can they.

Are you an atheist convert to Christianity?

Any truly intelligent person will find the first statement quoted above “absurd.” Why? Because it is a mere assertion that the writer cannot prove. The writer cannot have surveyed “most educated people.” The writer ignores the vast number of educated people in the LDS Church.

1) Ahahaha.

One does not always need to perform a formal survey to reach sound conclusions about what most people of a given demographic think. I can say with justified confidence most well educated people will reject Scientology upon learning about it. I'm worried if this author thinks he can't. Prior background knowledge about people and their behavior can, in many circumstances, lead to justified predictions about demographic trends. This is amazingly sophomoric given how condescending the tone of it is.

2) It does not follow from the existence of a large group of LDS being well educated, that a large body of well educated would be LDS. That's affirming the consequent. So it does not matter one wit to a person arguing that most educated people would reject Mormonism that Mormonism obviously contains people who are intelligent, have advanced degrees, etc.

3) Later on, the same author suggests that the majority of those intelligent, informed people who really listen to the Church's case become LDS because they see it as truthful. Doubtless there's some no true scotsman thinking going on there, but what happened to his requirement to perform surveys to reach these kind of conclusions?

There are two types of LDS converts: those (educated and non-educated) that prayed about the Book of Mormon and received a witness and those that became members without the witness. The first group is the strongest aspect of the LDS church. The second group are the weakest members. However, since the Holy Ghost testifies regardless of education, the well educated can readily accept the LDS church.
