The "desire to prove something wrong" is the best way to decide if something is true (basic scientific principle). If it's true, it will survive testing.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Nobody will receive the confirmation that the Book of Mormon is true based on the evidence, either. In fact, the only way is to trick yourself into it.

Or, ya know, you could rely on empirical evidence. That works wonders.

Doesn't work that way with gospel truths.

So you're here to make yourself feel worse?

Way to go, smart guy.

I do those things... See, unlike you, I have a very wide life. I also can multi-task. I don't sit at a computer watching this board drooling for the next scandle I can comment on.

A multi-tasking bitcher and moaner? See, unlike you I don't rape small animals. See how inane and silly it is to project our angst and judgments onto other people?

A "very wide life" eh? You have the eternal truth, right? Yet here you are vomiting up your insecurities. Sad.

As opposed to actual truths?

I'm glad you've at least drawn a distinction there.

Then we simply disagree. I don't see a lot of intentional hurting, though there is occasionally some of that.

But I can make the same observations about you that you make about me. You can't be at peace if you need to come to a hate group in order to make yourself feel better.

Sure, make the same observations about me. Whatever makes you feel good. I'm just pointing out that I see a lot of negativity in you, and I don't think that's healthy. I'm sure that shortly I'll stop paying attention to your posts because that's what I do when I see nothing of interest but negativity and anger.

But, yes, I'm at peace and happy. I don't know of any hate groups I'm involved with, so I would think that means I don't need a hate group to make myself feel better.

My daughter just got a high honors scholarship at her university. That makes me happy, not any involvement with some mythical hate group.

Yes, you really have to want to believe before you can gain a testimony. That's how it works. But there's a certain nobility in letting go of something you really wanted to believe in because it turned out not to be true.

I'm not questioning your testimony or anyone else's but just saying that there is no shame in following your convictions, no matter how much you wanted to believe something else.

Josh, why not share this Christmas message with other boards? You can try this even with boards that never discuss Mormonism. Let your reference to hate be purely generic. Please report back here as to what they had to say and whether it constituted satisfactory attention.
