The Nehor wrote:Joseph wrote:Joseph Smith said the papyrus he translated had the actual writings of Father Abraham - by his own hand.
No he didn't. He said it was "purported" to be written by Abraham.

A Translation of some ancient Records that have fallen into our hands from the catacombs of Egypt. The writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus. (See History of the Church, 2:235–36, 348–51.)
The Nehor wrote:Joseph wrote:I have been told that if it existed it would be the oldest biblical writing in existence and one of the greatest religious finds in history.
Smash that strawman. Even your feeble wit should be able to pull it off......maybe.
The Nehor wrote:Joseph wrote: Not by scribes or others, but by him personally.
Nehor smart smart smart. Joseph really dumb.
If you're so smart Nehor, why can't you just admit the Book of Abraham was/is what Joseph Smith claimed it was? The truth dodgers love to use the straw man claim when setting up a straw man argument. Do you acknowledge these facts:
1) Joseph Smith claimed the writing were by Abraham by his own hand.
2) The LDS church keeps the papyrus Joseph Smith used along with the KEP hidden from critical review.
3) The papyrus Joseph Smith used has absolutely nothing to do with Abraham and is translated incorrectly.
The Nehor wrote:Joseph wrote:Why is ld-sinc keeping this from the world?
Because you made it up. Joseph, you have Jimmy Hoffa's body in the crawlspace under your house. Why are you keeping this from the world?
Epic fail.
Simon Belmont wrote:Joseph SMASH Nehor! SMASH SMASH! Joseph hate Nehor! Nehor very bad! Joseph SMASH! Joseph eat cookie later?
More blathering from the most useless poster on the board. How many posts have you contributed to the discussion Simon... three? What have you said regarding the topic? Is it time to tuck tail again because you don't actually address anything?
Here's some actual data Simon regarding the topic of discussion (something you don't know how to incorporate into your distortion):
http://mormonthink.com/book-of-abraham-issues.htm"... with W. W. Phelps and Oliver Cowdery as scribes, I commence the translation of some of the characters or hieroglyphics, and much to our joy found that one of the rolls contained the writings of Abraham, another the writings of Joseph of Egypt, etc. - a more full account of which will appear in its place, as I proceed to examine or unfold them. Truly we can say, the Lord is beginning to reveal the abundance of peace and truth." (History of the Church, Vol. 2, p. 236).
What ever happened to the writings of Joseph of Egypt? Did the LDS church lose these "sacred" Mormon documents?
More data:
The eight Egyptologists and Semitists who responded were unanimous in their scathing verdict: "Joseph Smith's interpretation of these cuts is a farrago of nonsense from beginning to end," came the report from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which added that "five minutes study in an Egyptian gallery of any museum should be enough to convince any educated man of the clumsiness of the imposture;" "... difficult to deal seriously with Smith's impudent fraud," wrote another from Oxford, England. "Smith has turned the Goddess into a king and Osiris into Abraham." From Chicago, "... very clearly demonstrates that he (Joseph Smith) was totally unacquainted with the significance of these documents and absolutely ignorant of the simplest facts of Egyptian Writing and civilization." And from London, "... the attempts to guess a meaning are too absurd to be noticed. It may be safely said that there is not one single word that is true in these explanations."
