Wisdom Seeker,
Thank you for asking questions on this thread. It helps me to think things through. I thought I was down here alone in my own little world and I don't mind that at all. Still, it's nice to get some feedback.
Covering up an accident where victims only get hurt is one thing, but covering up an accidental death with something much more sinister such as a kidnapping and or murder just seems too much.
Yes, it does seem like too much. However, when you consider what Cindy Anthony might have done when faced with the (possible) fact that her beloved granddaughter died in a pool accident while two adults were present in the home, well, she would have gone ballistic. Both of their lives (George and Casey) would have been over.
So let's say she went out to the pool to find her child drowned. Logically the first step is to perform CPR and call an ambulance. So what would prevent Casey from calling 911 on the day of the supposed drowning?
Enter George Anthony.
The Defense claims that George Anthony and Casey Anthony realized that Caylee was missing, both went out opposite sides of the house to search and as Casey rounded the corner of the side she was on, she encountered George holding Caylee.
George Anthony is an ex-detective. He knows CPR and he knows what dead is. Perhaps he determined that Caylee was dead beyond rescue. Perhaps he panicked.
What would prevent Casey (or George) from calling 911 would have been sheer panic and fear of retribution on the part of Cindy Anthony--at least I think that is what the Defense will claim.
Again, you know much more about this case than I do, but everything about it does not make much sense and what I hope is normal people behavior. I like to watch competent defenders and prosecutors in trials because it's so much like a good chess game.
There is nothing normal about this family.
Sounds to me like what I thought was a silly defense does have some very good and valid points. But in terms of public opinion, I would guess most people think she is guilty because she is the mom, and in cases like this I would think the mom is often found guilty.
If the news reports and live blogs are any indication, the public was ready to put a needle in Casey Anthony's arm a very long time ago and still are eager to see her slapped with the death penalty.
Everything I see on the news reports, live blog that is on the station where I watch the videos and sometimes live coverage, tells me that people are not paying attention to the testimonies and their reactions/comments tend to converge on "guilty" by an overwhelming majority.
Were I on trial for my life, there is NO way I would want the majority of bloggers to be on the jury. They are a little too blood thirsty for my liking which is why I tend not to watch the live blog on wftv. com where I watch the daily videos of the trial.
I am suspending judgement on whether or not I think Casey should be found guilty or not guilty. I am intrigued by the case, the process and more than that, I would like to see this small child's story told with some element of truth. I know that the whole truth is unlikely to come out, but I would like to see Casey have a fair trial and Caylee's story told in as much as truth can be expected.
FYI: The only time that Florida has applied the death penalty to women was in two cases of serial killers. She is unlikely to have the death penalty imposed if the verdict is "guilty".
