Feminist Mormon Housewives - this is the kind of nonsense that crops up over there. And by, "lighten the f*** up", it's in reference to the dressing down you gave Zee for using the word 'lifestyle' in reference to the OP's bisexuality.
Whether you realize it or not, zee and I are friends and there is no "dressing down" in my comments to him. zee is on a journey in which is thinking is changing about a number of issues. I simply challenged him to think about his word usage and he'd expect it of me.
You've kinda been acting like a thread nanny.
Thread nanny? Let's go for accuracy. Liz, just me, Bond and I all criticized the comments of male posters on this thread in response to a sensitive topic raised by a young woman. What you don't like is that I singled out one of your posts and now you've appointed yourself as
my nanny. Look, if you want to spend your time on the board lashing out at me, that's your choice.
While I agree that 'lifestyle' is not technically accurate, it's a shortcut that a number of my gay friends use when referring to their sexuality and their culture.
Of course it's not technically accurate which is my point. I simply would like to encourage people to think about the expressions that many of us use without thinking.
If anyone here would like to define or describe "gay lifestyle" or "bi-sexual lifestyle", I'm willing to read and consider it. My position is that being gay or being bi-sexual (or heterosexual for that matter) identifies a
sexual orientation, not a lifestyle and when we characterize individuals as engaging in a "lifestyle" we set them up for bias, bigotry and abuse.
Not my way of doing things, that's for sure.
