You're right Dan. Nitpicking endlessly on substantive issues like Palmer's insider status is a great way to assuage a member's doubts about Joseph Smith. Good call.

We should be so lucky!

I already addressed this.

I've published more about Mormon history than he had. (He had published precisely nothing.) I'm more involved with professional historians of Mormonism than he was.

Leonard Arrington, the founder of "the new Mormon history" and the founding president of the Mormon History Association and for ten years the official Church Historian, was a professor of economics. Davis Bitton (a former Assistant Church Historian) and Stan Kimball, two subsequent presidents of the MHA and themselves prolific historians of Mormonism, held appointments as professors of European history.

Why did you bring the subject up? Why do you keep returning to it?

Are you demanding that I exit all of the threads on it so that you can have them to yourself and repeat your accusations without opposition?

I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish by attempting to latch yourself onto other people's credentials and positions.

What an odd question. The answer is no, of course.

Whoooosh!

You missed the point utterly and entirely, it seems.

I've got to go. There appears to be little value in this, anyway.

I found your response to be of little value. I'm sure you've got a lot of interesting things to say about Islam. But Mormonism is just your hobby horse.

A basic logic course would help, I think.

Provided you passed it.

Really gotta go now. No more slumming.

Logically, other people's accomplishments don't get applied to you by association. Hope this helps.

Got a fifteen-minute reprieve.

It doesn't. It just demonstrates that the point sailed several miles over your befuddled head.

And it wasn't even a difficult one!

Dan,

Why are you so emotional about this? I noticed on a separate thread that there seemed to be some allusion to a person close to you exiting the Church due to Palmer's book. Is that the reason for your vendetta against this man? Whatever the case, this is clearly one of those topics that sets you off.

You're saying rubbing elbows with the right people gives you credibility. I get it.
