You are too kind, Hasa!

It's not easy giving lessons like this in the LDS Church.

I was recently informed I have been blacklisted from even substitute teaching in our ward . . .

When I taught priesthood, I tried this once. Once. As soon as I finished the story, one of the brothers asked if I could point out again where the story came from. When I mentioned it was a common story to zen Buddhism, he said something along the lines of it not being Christian and should we really be sharing it in class? I thanked him for the unsolicited object lesson and asked if anyone else had other examples of how having a pre-filled cup may inhibit our sharing?

I like this story very much and will try to remember it for future reference.

I think it was President McKay, a teacher by profession, who said the worst people to try to teach the gospel to are teachers because they think they already know it all.

When your EQ member voiced his objection to this story coming from a non-Christian tradition, I would have been tempted to observe that Brigham Young sent the elders out into the world with instructions to gather all knowledge they could from every religion and culture and bring it home to Zion.

As some wit once put it,

Truth is truth, whether found
On Christian or on heathen ground.

And perhaps you could explain why you think President George Albert Smith and Hugh B. Brown were on the verge of apostasy?

P.S. Congratulations on officially becoming a dork in two languages, Will. ;^)

Guess Joseph was not a "milk before meat" kinda guy.
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

Gee, Will. I can use google translator too.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
