These are the ramblings of a cornered intellectual hack who is functioning from a position of fear, fear of what the really substantive apologetic arguments may make of the sophisticated knit one, pearl two text-critical approach the critics have long taken to the Book of Abraham and which has now been taken to the mat by competent LDS scholars who have begun to beat them at their own game.

College debate clubs may do it as a game. Serious thinkers do not, and you have long ago recused yourself from among that class.

Your right, this idea about debate taken right out of Plato and Aristotle are ramblings of a hack, becasue God knows, Will Schryver's ability to do textual criticism is super scary.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and neither do you. I've never debated in a formal, academic setting, except within academic classes with other students, nor have I ever taken a speech class.

The last time I engaged in a public debate in the academic world, it was on the subject of universal health care. All involved were to take the opposite side of the one they actaually believed.

In preperation, I studied everything I could find on the arguments for socialized medicine, assuming that the salient arguments I found were the actual argumetns leftists would use in any debate, formal or informal on the subject. This, however, assumes that there are clear, succinct and definable arguments on the other side.

How do you know who Will Schryver is? Have you been to other message boards? You said you have only been here for a short amount of time and you didn't know what we were talking about. But then you know who Will Schryver is. That makes no sense because not to many Mormons know who the hell Will is and they really don't care. Most Mormons don't know what an apologist is. Do you know what an apologist is? Can I ask your background?

Why are you so curious about these things? Is this standard procedure? Did I miss the introductory questionnaire?

No there is no standard procedure. It's just nice to know peoples background.

Like say if you weren't ever a member I would have to assume you don't know anything about Joseph Smith or the Book of Mormon. Now I know you are a member and you went on a mission so I can assume you know a fair amount about this topic. It just makes it easier to communicate with you.

My background is I am single as well, use to be Mormon but I don't go anymore, went on a mission, my family and good friends are all still Mormon, and I stopped going to church about a year and a half ago.
