Blixa
Where I differ from liz is in her roster of inclusions. I think she---and more out of her generosity and friendliness than out of any ignorance or mean-spiritedness---set the board up for trouble by including one person not known for his online charity, humility, reasonable discourse or ability to admit to mistakes.
I wasn't planning to address this, but I've thought better of it. I've been very "vocal" about this and I'm going to clearly state my position here as well.
If a person claims to leave a board because they aren't treated well, are attacked, find the posters intellectually inferior (pick one) then by gosh,
leave it. I take exception to any poster who makes such claims and then goes about the business of dragging their baggage on to another board.
Liz created a nice board with a different focus. Mainly, for NOM's to share their experiences, give voice to their issues without being attacked for either being fence sitters or hypocrites. In my observation, NOM's are a distinct category of LDS who bring their own unique experiences/issues to the table. Essentially, they get it from both sides.
What I like about NOM's is that they think for themselves. They pick and choose what they are going to live for and go about the business of living it. They base their choices on their own personal values. No surprise that many of my good friends from the boards are NOM's. We have much in common in our approach to life and living it.
It's no secret that I dislike that (okay, I'm not going to be discreet) DCP dragged his baggage on to the Cafeteria. Please do not mistake this as support for Scratch or staunch opposition to DCP, for I have come to find qualities in both that I like. They each play a role in their online relationship and I essentially don't care about it.
I simply don't want to read about it on two boards.
What this has served to do is set up a relationship between MDB and the Cafeteria that is identical to MDB and MD&D. I don't think that this would have happened if a poster like DCP who claims to have left this board, actually left it instead of engaging it from afar.
Liz did not and does not deserve the mud that has been thrown on her in this thread. Someone to whom Liz extended a friendly invitation, chose to share the content of her board with Scratch. This disgusts me in a way that I find difficult to put into words.
I'll leave it at that for now.
