Lol. What would they have said? "Hey, Liz: Dan Peterson is being his usual self. Could you do something about that?" You invited him and people were amused/irritated with his standard-issue behavior. Dan himself kept saying, again and again, "Liz invited me. If she has a problem, she can let me know."

If they were unhappy about how I was running my board, the logical thing would have been for them to have come to me, and given me an opportunity to fix it.

No one on your board was "unhappy" with the way you were running it. Your assessment of the situation has been wiggety-whack pretty much from day 1, Liz. That's what Ceeboo's trying to tell you: none of this really reflects on you, and it has virtually nothing to do with you personally. No one was out to "get" you. No one was trying to "hurt" you. No one requested that you delete your board--that was all your doing. Heck, I've said multiple times here that I supported your board, and wished that you would have kept it up. Instead of seeing this, you've chosen to view this as some kind of personal attack directed at you, and that's seriously misguided.

If that situation happened here, on this board, I would expect members to go to Shades.

What "situation"? How could an analogous situation ever happen here? It never would. You've blown all of this out of proportion and made it into your own personal Epic Drama, Liz. Just let it go already. Launch a new board, don't invite Dan Peterson, and enjoy life.

You're posting in the very thread this all took place. I suppose we see what we want to, sometimes.

Rofl! That's hilarious, Liz. No, jeez--come on. I told you already that I don't care. None of this was ever about you.

And stay out of my PM box!

ETA: *I* didn't "destroy" your board, Liz. *You* did. It came to an end because (a) you pulled the plug, and (b) you had a noxious mix of posters who couldn't get along. Or, rather, you had invited one person with a long and obsessive history of going nuclear on every board he's ever been a part of.

I don't see why the fuss here. Liz wants to know what happened. She seems to want to understand it, so perhaps in the future she knows how to go about it properly if she wanted to do this whole thing again.

there's no big gorilla. She's just wanting to get to the bottom of it, it seems to me. Of course Scratch wont' throw her a bone. He just doesn't seem like the type that wishes to help another. Plus, he's probably afraid someone will findout who he really is, or something. He's weird like that.

Lol.
So 'no' then. Got it.

Fine, Scratch.

I consider the matter closed. You heard what I had to say. I think we understand each other.

Sure.

Why didn't whoever leaked the information have the guts to come to me directly?

It has very little to do with "guts", Liz.
The person (Let's call him/her Mr. X) found that these experiences did not sit well with him/her and did not like being a part of the "closed" discussion/discussions about other people. Mr. X, for whatever reason, wanted to bring some light to what Mr. X obvioulsy considered was poor conduct on the part of the others in the group.

It seems that you are looking very deeply into MR. X. (and only Mr. X). Perhaps a moment of pause, in order to consider looking through a much wider lense to see all the people that are indeed involved in this mess, would be a most worthy consideration on your part.

If they were unhappy about how I was running my board, the logical thing would have been for them to have come to me, and given me an opportunity to fix it.

Clearly, that would have been one choice, but Mr. X decided on a different one.

If that situation happened here, on this board, I would expect members to go to Shades.

I would imagine that some would and some would not.
I, for example, did not go to Shades concerning the posting of the PM on the public board. I decided to post my thoughts directly on the board, to the entire MDB community. (This was my choice)

As a Moderator, when folks have filed grievances about things they dislike about the board, I ALWAYS refer them directly to Shades.

I understand, Liz.

Everyone gets to decide for themselves how, why, and by what method they choose to handle these things. (We, you nor I, get to decide that for them)

Lastly, this has very little to do with you. Have you weighed that?

I hope I was helpful (I only posted this because you asked me to)

Peace,
Ceeboo

Thanks, Stem.

And, thank you, too, Ceeboo.

I appreciate the thoughts.

I consider the matter closed.

In answer to your question: there were half a dozen people who sent me things at various points in time. As I've tried to convey to you (along with several of your friends on this thread), the tragic flaw with your board was the fact that you invited an obsessive, mammoth-ego'ed freak who just can't get along with others online. I mean, think about it: if you kicked off all 6-7 of the people who were "moles," what would that have done to your community? It was nothing personal against you; it's just that Dan Peterson has created so many enemies over the years, and people are so fed up with his crap that they are inclined to talk and to dissect his more embarrassing moments. I guess you could have said, "Don't tell Scratch that Dan is acting like an ass again," but as I'm sure you realize, that probably wouldn't have accomplished much. At least one of the folks was practically begging me to launch threads about his antics. And as is probably fairly obvious, it would have put you in an uncomfortable position if folks had demanded that you rein him in. Even if you had tried to intervene, do you think The Kingpin would have done your bidding?

On a side note: some of the most classic moments were when people would extend the olive branch, and he'd lean back, lacing his fingers across his ample belly, only to say, "Very impressive. I appreciate that." Zero reciprocation; just more condescension. Lol.

Who are these 6 or 7 posters, Scratch? Liz, has dropped it but I'm quite intrigued.
