I have never heard a cradle catholic speak about how beautiful the mass was.
Again, one is left to wonder how many Catholics you do know. I know very few and I've heard them say this a bunch.
They have been to so many masses that it becomes a mode of worship,
Am I missing something? Isn't that the point?
an end to a means.
Which is not the same as worship.
What they do talk about is the homily, if they talk about the mass at all.
[/quote]I don't think anyone here will disagree with your view that Catholics find their service comfortable and ...hmmmm.... standard. But that does not preclude a Catholic from finding a particular service poignant and significant, or lots of services. For whatever reason. I'm quite sure (though I have no evidence) that lots of Catholics find many of their services (all?) boring and insignificant. Just as many SBCs do. And Episcopalians (sp?). And LDS.
So what? That's an indictment of the human condition not of the service, in my view.
I don't really understand what you're arguing for, Walmart.
