You can't find it because the search feature is essentially POS. ;-) If you want to do a search on a common word, enter the word like this: discussion*. Even so, the search feature (unless Shades has changed it) will only go so far back in time. So...in order to find the original thread, I had to search on your screen name and flip the pages. I started doing this last night and gave up when I got to page 150. Just now, I started at the last page and flipped the pages backwards, starting at the oldest post.
Until I found it. :-)
Jersey Girl, I'm happy to tell you what I learned last time. Thank you for asking.
1. Never before was I rejected quite the way you rejected me as I tried to use the Commitment Pattern on you.
2. You interpreted some of the basic scriptures we use as missionaries differently than what I grew up with.
3. Never before had I taught the missionary discussions *without* the fear of losing a soul. There is no weight on my shoulders... no fear about what I say incorrectly or forget to say.
4. I feel like I can see the whole missionary experience from a totally different angle. It is fascinating to me.
Somewhere on that list is the answer I was looking for that would give me good reason to do this. I'm not going to say what it is.
By the way, I plan to only use 3 tools: the scriptures, Preach My Gospel manual, and the Gospel Principals Manual. I will not Google. If I get stuck, I will go to a fellow missionary at Mormon.org and consult with them. I also plan to have a companion (if you don't mind). We will be like Alma and Amulek. It will be glorious.
Would your companion also be attempting to teach me?
This time around, I won't use the old discussions I used in the early 90's. Instead, I will use exactly the tools available to missionaries today. I will do my homework and study up on teaching methods and styles emphasized in the PMG manual.
I'm excited to learn more about the modern approach LDS is using and see how it fits in a role play with a real nevermo.
Like I said, I'm not offended if you decline.
Zee.
What I want you to know is that:
1. I might disappear for a few days to address in real life at any given moment.
2. I would eventually return.
3. A personal belief that I hold will be the reason that I do this. In other words, I won't do it
for the purpose of entertaining you or anyone else.
So I will do it, but only pending your response to my counter terms and conditions.
:-)
