See, this is where I think Joseph Smith went wrong. He put very little stock in trying to help us really understand *how* he got words from God. I think it would be extremely useful for the critics to see exactly how I go about things.
So, my severest of critics, bring it on. Tell me how you think I should document the process of scripture writing in a way that will help you believe in what I write.

Good idea. Whatever you do, do not let the critics get a hold of your source material. You can see what happened with the Book of Abraham. What a fiasco. Best to do like the Book of Mormon and make sure the source material "disappears". I suggest using several different methods. Rock in a hat, Urim and Thummim, or just crack open a KJV Bible and plagiarize parts of it. Tell people that the words would appear magically, and would not disappear until you got it right, but also leave open the possibility that you were still able to put in your own version of the word, that way they can't nail you with anachronisms. Make sure you get friends and family to verify that you translated by the power of god. Don't trust a disinterested third party to do it.

You will note, however, that prophets of old were pushed to say and do things that didn't align with their hearts. Book of Mormon prophets didn't even know why they were writing - they told us they know not, save the Lord has something up his sleeve. 1 Nephi 9:5
