The fact that it can get rid of some "cholesterol" or whatever other moronic benefit doesn't change it's harmful effects.

Too bad the word of wisdom specifically endorses the consumption of wine and beer. :)

It's been so sad to watch your descent into apostasy. All you care for now is the Church of FAIR of Latter-Day Mopologists. :(

It's almost like you've forgotten everything about Mormonism. :(

You mean D&C 49. However, whether it is a result of your demonstrated functional illiteracy or for some other reason, you are not talking about the caveat in that section:

21 And wo be unto man that sheddeth blood or that wasteth flesh and hath no need.

In order to harmonize the various sections of the Doctrine and Covenants, this verse should be read in conjunction with D&C 89:13-15. This means that we are in trouble if we shed blood or waste flesh if we do not have need, which the Lord defines as times of winter or famine.

(Note: I count 4 out of 21 verses in D&C 89 starting with "And again." There are also the aforementioned redundancies, as well as "times of winter or of cold." We also get the unnecessary pairing of "behold, verily," along with 11 total verses out of 21 which start with "and." The Lord sure is one verbose guy.)

It would behoove the Lord to take a freshman level composition course.

The creeping things verse is in verses 14-15.

14 All grain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;

15 And these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.

Verse 13 above is NOT saying they they should ONLY be used during those periods, the usage of the word "NOT" is making it say the opposite. What it's saying is that it's "okay" to eat meat at other times other than winter, cold, famine. We know this because:

1. Meat was most eaten during those periods because it was able to be preserved.
2. The usage of "not" is Old English wording, reversal of meaning.
3. Note how verse 15 is written. It's written strait out without the word "not", specifically forbidding creeping things to be eaten save in winter, famine, etc. If verse 13 meant what YOU think it means, it would have been written the same as verse 15. The addition in verse 13 of the word "NOT", changes the meaning.

In conclusion, this is another good example of why people become anti-mormons, because they do not know how to properly interpret things, they are intellectually lazy and ignorant.

Sorry, but you need to learn to read.

The "not only" in verse 14 is saying that grain is to be used as food for everything animal, not just man.

And when did I say otherwise?

"These" in verse 15 refers to "the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth." It is referring to the last dependent clause of the preceding verse, per basic English grammar.

Verse 15 is referring to the last statement of verse 14, not the entire verse 14.
It is basic common sense that "wild animals" and "creeping things" i.e. BUGS is ONLY to be eaten during cold and famine.

The meaning of these words is that

1. grain is supposed to be food for man and beasts and birds and wild animals; and

Yes.... Know that already.

2. man is supposed to use beasts and birds and wild animals as food only in times of famine and excess hunger.

Nope, you're wrong.... Only the wild animals and creeping things part does it refer to.
Do you want to know another reason why you are wrong? Because of verses 12-13.

Further, show me almost ANY LDS save nutball liberal Vegi-nuts, who actually interpret the scripture YOUR WAY????

ALL LDS interpret the Word of Wisdom as simply to "eat meat sparingly".
NONE say that we should ONLY eat it during winter or famine.
Thus your interpretation is FALSE, just as all of your interpretations are.

(Note: these two verses from D&C 89 present a good example of how the Lord pads his verbiage by speaking in redundancies. Beasts and wild animals; famine and excess of hunger.)

No, it's a good example of you looking at the wording like a "child" would.
You are an ignorant child who can't comprehend subtle but important differences and details.
Again, it's the reason you are an anti-mormon, you haven't grown intellectually.

That's easy..... Every single "normal/average" Mormon out there interprets the WOW as simply saying to "eat meat sparingly".

NONE believe we are to eat meat ONLY in Winter or Famine. That's your anti-mormon interpretation, not the LDS interpretation. My explanation makes clear the "sparingly" claim, while debunking the only in winter/famine claim. Thus, EVERY LDS believes the way I do.

Again, you people are anti-mormons for a reason. You think like children, instead of being able to process details, thus you judge falsely everything concerning the Church and otherwise.

Uh huh. Are there "bad benefits" from not knowing how to read? If I were to say that women in general can't read, would that make me "gender racist"?

The "not only" in verse 14 is saying that grain is to be used as food for everything animal, not just man.

It relates to what you go on to say.

"These" in verse 15 refers to "the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth." It is referring to the last dependent clause of the preceding verse, per basic English grammar.

Ldsfaqs: see this?

12 Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly;

13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.

14 All grain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;

15 And these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.

In four million words or less, please describe the function of a semicolon in English grammar.

The meaning of these words is that

1. grain is supposed to be food for man and beasts and birds and wild animals; and

Yes.... Know that already.

Then you should know how dependent clauses work. But either you don't, or you are being intentionally obtuse.

2. man is supposed to use beasts and birds and wild animals as food only in times of famine and excess hunger.

Nope, you're wrong.... Only the wild animals and creeping things part does it refer to.
Do you want to know another reason why you are wrong? Because of verses 12-13.

So, anyway, tell me about what a semicolon does........

See, Ldsfaqs, the point is that modern Latter-day Saints ignore these verses in what they claim to teach as the "Word of Wisdom." The "Word of Wisdom" as taught by the modern LDS Church is the sanctification of the temperance movement, and that's all it is. The fact that few, if any, Latter-day Saints care about these verses prove the point.

But in any case, thank you for arguing that the Lord wants us to eat bugs when it is winter or we are starving, which is one of the most hilarious things I have recently seen on this board.

P.S. Where are people who live in places where it snows going to get bugs during winter, Ldsfaqs?

(Note: these two verses from D&C 89 present a good example of how the Lord pads his verbiage by speaking in redundancies. Beasts and wild animals; famine and excess of hunger.)

Insects = Protein. We could certainly do worse for ourselves than eating bugs. An endless supply, a good source of protein.

They are eaten all over the world today as a staple.

The tribes in the western U.S. in particular were dependent upon insects as a food source.

I've only had roasted grasshoppers. They were pretty good. Crickets: not just for seagulls.

But only in winter.

And here in Utah, grasshoppers and crickets are just ripe for the plucking during winter.
