I was under the impression though that at least some Area Authorities, MPs, and General Authorities got living allowances or stipends. Am I wrong on this? Do we know if anyone is paid anything? Are there any credible sources that talk about this?
Thanks in advance.

Ex-Mormon Bishop takes plea deal for failure to report sexual abuse.
Is Rojas facing church discipline for failure to follow the explicit church requirements on such an important matter?
The church will be serious about child abuse when it starts holding church courts for people like Rojas.

If you listen to the talk where it was mentioned, the speaker did not mention the GAs. They of course, need some funds to live since the work they do is completely for the church. Bills still need to be paid and food still needs to be bought. Not to mention personal family expenses such as grand kids going to college and their children too. But on the local level it is quite different. And rightly so. In this way, the LDS church does have a lay ministry unmatched in the world.

UNDER THE DIRECTION OF Jesus Christ, the Church is led by 15 apostles, who are also regarded as prophets, seers, and revelators. The man who has been an apostle the longest is the President of the Church, and by inspiration he selects two other apostles as counselors. These three function as the First Presidency, which is the highest governing body of the Church. (For information on the other 12 apostles, see Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, which is the second-highest governing body of the Church.)
Members of the First Presidency are special witnesses of Jesus Christ, called to teach and testify of Him throughout the world. They travel frequently, addressing and encouraging large congregations of members and interested nonmembers, as well as meeting with local leaders.
When they are not traveling, members of the First Presidency counsel together and with other general Church leaders on matters affecting the worldwide Church, such as missionary work, temple building, spiritual and temporal welfare, and much more.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY EIGHT QUORUMS of the Seventy. Each quorum may have up to 70 members. Members of Quorums of the Seventy are often referred to simply as “Seventies.” Seventies are called to proclaim the gospel and build up the Church. They work under the direction of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and the Presidency of the Seventy
Some Seventies are assigned to headquarters administrative functions, but most live and work within a specific geographic region of the Church. Like the Apostles, they also travel frequently to visit and teach congregations of the Church.
Prophets and Apostles Minister to Youth
Prophets and apostles regularly provide messages of encouragement and support to youth of the Church, their parents, and their leaders. Here are three additional examples:
1. President Thomas S. Monson leads the way by teaching principles that will strengthen youth as they face challenges prevalent in today’s society.
2. President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles says he believes youth “can meet the world on its own terms and conquer it.”
3. In a combined interview, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, and Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, say if leaders remind youth of their capabilities, they will live up to what they are asked to do.
