Conscientious Alternative to Mormonism

Post by _KevinSim »

I've read posts by a lot of people who scoff at the idea that anyone in their right mind would take seriously the claims of the LDS Church. If the LDS Church really is so bad, then what is the conscientious alternative to it? If believing God lives and that God has chosen Monson as His spokesman to the world is really such a bad idea, then what should people with a conscience do instead?

How about simply living life?

How about doing good simply because you want to do so? Rather than hoping some fictitious being loves you more for doing good?

Life is a one time roller coaster ride. Stop looking down and dwelling on what the end of the ride will be like and what the exit experience will entail.

Lift up your head, feel the warm sun on your face, the cool wind in your hair.

Enjoy it, you only get one time.

For your reference, I am a former Mormon, devoted to spreading the LDS gospel truth.

I am an apathetic atheist. I just don't care if there is a god or not.

Simply try to do right because it's the right thing to do. No belief in a silly myth of a Savior, the nonsense of a Second Coming or any of the rest of it is required.

The same thing that the 99.9% of mankind have done, who don't consider Monson or Mormonism at all. The Church isn't bad, in my opinion, it is irrelevant.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Are you asking, if the LDS Church isn't the one, true church, then which one is? It's a question TBMs ask often and it doesn't lead to enlightenment about religion; it only reveals their limited mindset.

Sorry, but there isn't any one, true church. If you truly have a conscience, you can trust it as a guide in this life.

A robust and thoughtful atheism, buttressed with an understanding in history, philosophy, the social and natural sciences.

1. Relax.

2. Try not to be an asshole.

On these two hang all the . . .

I think a conscientious alternative, for example, would be to give 10% of your increase to help feed and cloth people in need, rather than to the Mall Builders that inhabit the COB.
