Harmony, how do you know what God needs and what God doesn't need?

Thanks for the answers guys.

by the way my Grandpa is awesome. He doesn't really believe in the church the same way. He believes all churches are the same but he just does Mormonism for the family. He drinks coffee and goes to the temple. One of the least judgemental guys I know and he is one of the smartest guys I know.

Kevin, I studied and pondered the building of the City Creek Mall.
I then, earnestly prayed to God that I had reached a decision to withhold tithing payments because I believed the First Presidency was spending funds in a manner not consistent with how Christ would want them spent. God told me, via the Holy Ghost that I was making the correct decision for the correct reasons.

Well done! As I have always said, teach them correct principles, and let them govern themselves.

KevinSim wrote:Themis, in the article you're referring to I quoted Analytics as saying, "all reputible ones do." The context showed that the "ones" were churches and the "do" was disclose their finances. If all churches disclose their finances then clearly a church has to disclose its finances in order to be reputible. So if Analytics thinks that all reputible churches disclose their finances, then doesn't it logically follow that he thinks a church has to disclose its finances in order to be reputible?

You are suggesting that they have to while he is suggesting they will do so freely because they have nothing to hide and so none would keep them secret. The difference may be small but I think it is there.

Despite the splendid argumentation of KevinSim et al. there is little to no reason to withhold financial statements within the Mormon faith unless something non faith promoting were occurring.

I think it is a wash, what is not faith promoting about the great and spacious city creek mall adorning the temple with modern day money changing?
