The old-man "I am going show everyone how rebellious and hip I really am at 55" pony-tail was enough for me to not think much of him. The stupid things he says and his utter failure at LDS apologetics have just been butter...

Having long hair means someone is being "rebellious"? Really?

As for the quote itself: Ritner says he requested to be taken off the committee. Gee says otherwise.

Gee did not say that. Read it again. "I also will not comment on his removal from my dissertation committee other than to note that it was the department's decision to do so. There is much more to the story than what Professor Ritner has chosen to tell.” (Mar 23 2006, 07:47 PM). Peterson is the one who said otherwise.

Who is telling the truth? Why should I privilege one version of the story over the other?

Ritner was there. Peterson wasn't. That's why. Most people would take the word of an actual participant than the secondhand suggestions of wrongdoing from someone who wasn't there.

I probably should hang out here more.

I'm not a Mormon apologist. If I'm anything, I'm an apologist for truth. It's hard to find much of that here.

And where will you find "truth?" Over at that MAD board?

Harassing my friends merits my animosity. What he has said on record merits the contempt of most people who have a conscience.

Ludd,

1. Did Schryver have a written agreement with MI re his Book of Abraham article?

2. If so, did it give MI absolute control over publication of the article?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't know. I don't participate there. What I have discovered in the past few weeks is that truth is hard to find on this board when it comes to some things, especially the allegations made about Peterson, Hamblin, and Schryver.

What I see is that you don't find repeated insults of women based on their appearance, age, and sexuality to be misogynist. You don't find crude humor offensive. You don't think spreading unfounded rumors about a professor's academic record is wrong.

Most of us disagree. Doesn't make us liars.

I don't know anything about any of this. What I do know, from my own investigation, is that the allegations made against Peterson, Hamblin, and Schryver are essentially all made up nonsense.

I'm quite confident most people would agree with me. Sad that you guys go to such lengths to excuse bad behavior.
