That said, I have never posted over at that site - can authors lock their own threads? Or is he a moderator?
I think the way it works over there is that they have certain posters who they protect by either blocking anyone who is critical of them or closing threads where they are losing the debate. So it isn't that Will is moderator just that his friends who are protect him from criticism.

I'm inclined to agree HDE.
I know the few times I've been chastised by mods or board long-timers, it has been for speaking up against or inadvertently offending members of a very small group. But you know what? If those are the rules of the game, you either play by them or you leave the field. Really, what point is there in staying if you are constantly riding the pine?
I noticed this morning that Zerinus was suspended for a somewhat sarcastic response to Bill Hamblin. I felt bad for him. He and I have disagreed on many things over the last few years and for a while, he harassed me (all in good fun, I think) at every opportunity, but I didn't think his comment was "insulting" enough to warrant suspension. I thought he was making a point, as opposed to a nasty personal attacks which often pass for points on message boards, and I took his comments with that in mind.
Hopefully, he'll be posting again soon. He seems to enjoy that board as much or more than anyone else I've encountered there.
