The more I think about it, the more I realize this is really dangerous material for the church.

Wow, I honestly never realized how much skin she is showing in this picture.

Look at the strategic positioning of the purple sash/belt thing... her dark pubs would have shown through that light wet cotton!

All you ever do is look at women and droll over them. That is so disgusting. I prefer boys.

So...Stake Swimming Gala's are immodest activities, who knew....

A few years ago the Bishop of my ward felt obliged to tell the female single adults that they would have to agree not to wear "two-piece" swimsuits during an upcoming SA event.

One sister then announced that she had bought a new bikini for the occasion, but it was OK because she would wear the top and her friend would wear the bottom.

So true. I was so disappointed to discover that the claim they made -- that 'Satan' couldn't tempt me within the holy walls of the temple -- was definitely not true.

As the nubile young women stepped out of the water, things were revealed to me, right there in the temple, that I had never seen before. It was an education, and a spiritual experience of a decidedly different nature than I had expected. What's more, the natural effects of these revelatory 'visions' were embarrassingly difficult to hide.

To this day, baptisms have a bit of an erotic connection in my mind, partly because the temple experience was reaffirmed during my missionary baptisms (most of our converts were infatuated teenage girls and lonely housewives). Those prophet dudes knew what they were doing, combining white clothing with water.

Is this extreme focus on modest dress a relatively recent thing? It seems back in the 70s nobody would have cared much about a little girl wearing a dress like that. Of course, they would have photoshopped white skin and blonde hair on her, but the dress would have been fine.

It actually is an old photo from the seventies.
It was originally depicting a Primary teacher telling one of her class why Daddy couldn't have the Priesthood, but has now been brought up to date to fight against the rising tide of pornography brought about because adults have seen naked shoulders.

Is there any justification? Any at all?

None. I see absolutely none. My girls wore dresses like this when they were 6 and 7. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
