I would suggest that debates are scored by the performance of the debater. In determining the victor in a Presidential debate (especially), Strength, Passion, Leadership, Enthusiasm, and the ability to engage/connect with the opponent as well as the enormous audience play very key factors. Perhaps not prudent or fair (this is a whole other debate in itself) personality, popularity, and marketability play ENORMOUS roles in US Presidential political debates.
But it would be interesting to see how debate judges would score this.
I would agree that this would be interesting.
But the only and critically important thing about these debates is how the 60 plus million viewers scored it.
Based upon that type of criteria, I think Obama had the edge, but granted it was a very low scoring event.
Fair enough.
I think Romney delivered a clear and concise victory.
This is/was only debate #1 and I would imagine that the entire Obama team saw/listened to the same thing I did and he/they will be working extremely hard for the next ones to steady the ship. I believe Obama will be much, much more prepared and ready for the next rounds. (in my opinion, he had better be)
