huh? the technical merit of his work is somewhere between New Era Magazine illustrator and retired BYU engineering professor. like i could see him maybe winning 2nd prize at the American Fork Steel Days art show. out of 9 entries.

I'm an illustrator myself. His technique is quite good. I always try to give the devil his due.

I have seen some of his work where the perspective of his background buildings is a bit off. As though he couldn't take enough time to get it right.

I don't consider his work art in the same way I don't consider what I create for a living art. I just draw images that sell a product or document the steps in a procedure.

His work is just trying to sell a point (a dubious one at that). Propaganda. It's a pity his talent is wasted in such banal images. Someone else mentioned Thomas Kinkade. It's a good analogy.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Excellent point, moksha! Who am I to argue with financial success?

I hadn't seen that one with the lovely sea monster. My appreciation of Kinkade is blossoming!

Runaway slave, not only does the artist need to title his picture to give a viewer a clue as to its meaning but needs to write an explanation of the title. I look at the picture and wonder who is this guy and where is he going? Who are those threatening people behind him with torches? And torches ? are they going into a cave to find something? The man seems disturbed and is holding chains, did his slave run away? Who knows? I suspect it is the town people seeking Frankenstein. That is why it is dark. Either that or we have a lynch mob.

With words he explains that the government is crushing his freedom. That sounds really bizarre to me living in one of the history of the worlds freest time and places. I can try to allow him space for meaning. Perhaps he is is locked in a penal institution. Or perhaps he is an unhappy individual looking for somebody to blame. The government is crushing his artistic genius. He has been left with no space at MOMA.

Hell Receive thy new Possessor: One who brings
A mind not to be chang'd by Place or Time.

The mind is its own place, and in it self
Can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n.

What matter where, if I be still the same,
And what I should be, all but less then he
Whom Thunder hath made greater? Here at least
We shall be free; th' Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:
Here we may reign secure, and in my choyce
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav'n.

~ Lucifer, Paradise Lost
The world is always full of the sound of waves..but who knows the heart of the sea, a hundred feet down? Who knows it's depth?

Frankenstein was the doctor not the monster, there were no torch bearing villagers... Please read the book. Its really good, a true classic.

Please leave delicately packaged literary references as you find them to delight the next reader.
Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

OK, I do like the Cthulu pic.
