I would like to thank the person that resurrected this old thread. I had not seen this before.

I would highly recommend reading this thread. It's VERY enlightening.....

Can someone define the KEP for me? I only lost my testimony 3 years ago and since this is 4 years old, I just don't know what the KEP is.

Now that you've read this thread and the link Mak sent, I'm dying to know if your testimony has been restored?

This is a hard one for me. I would like to be fascinated by this research and theory, but even if it wasn't completely over my head, I can't understand how a God would require such high level intellect in understanding the Book of Abraham? Surely God, if he really did inspire Joseph to "translate" the Book of Abraham that was to be used for ALL humanity, would have come up with a simple process for understanding the Book of Abraham for simple minded folks such as myself. The fact that you need a PhD to even read this material is evidence enough that the Book of Abraham was nothing more than a made up scripture at best and complete fraud at worst. That's my opinion.

You should keep in mind that maklelan is researching this from a point of view that the Book of Abraham is nothing to do with Abraham and that the text of it came from Joseph Smith. He isn't (I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong) trying to support the legitimacy of the Book of Abraham as what the Church claims it is.
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

So what's the point of the Book of Abraham if it isn't what the church claims it to be? Inspired fiction that has nothing to do with the plan of salvation?
