Add that to your disgusting comments throughout this thread about the girl and her family, and you have no credibility at all. Your channeling of WS is right on target, however.

Did anyone else see the interview, or know of a transcript? I can't access the link.

Lemmie, my interpretation is my interpretation. You can disagree all you want, howl at the moon, dance a jig, chant a seance, and I'll still disagree with you. You having a different opinion doesn't make me wrong. My opinion is my opinion. That is all.

I have no problem with opinions. Please provide support for the statements of fact, included in your opinion, that I have bolded:
Well, Dehlin did at the very least provide proof positive that this whole thing was a stunt by the mother, and also that maybe the November Policy is a good thing.

The mother spoke more than the girl did in that interview, and straight up admitted to conceiving and planning the whole thing... for the specific purpose of embarrassing the church. I think she's gotten way more mileage out of it than she had planned, but nonetheless.

That should be fine.

Thank you! (Sorry for the dumb questions. )

Thanks, Chap, for the re-start! Just to clarify, I excerpted a large piece from roughly the middle of the article. The full text, including the video CNN posted, is at the CNN link at the end of the post.

I disagree with moving it because it is an important subject. The thread on the Mormon D&D board is 30 pages long and still growing. If they can resist censoring it, well, you know.

Edit to add: So this board is more censorious. Times have changed.

I don't disagree with this move. I do wish you had the time to devote to pruning out certain remarks, but I understand why that's difficult.

I just want to say what a damn. shame. that a thread that started out a thoughtful discussion of issues had to be jettisoned to Telestial on account of one poster, WD, who couldn't keep his homophobic and salacious comments in check.

It is no wonder that LGBTQ youth resort to suicide when even here, a presumably grown adult cannot discuss the topic without making it a filth fest. This is the kind of thing they face every day in our society.

Color me thoroughly disgusted.

Lesson learned, Savannah. Lesson learned.

The only reason I can't disagree with the move is because Shades would have to comb through the entire thread looking for what remarks to prune out.

I thought this was an excellent thread before WD drove it into the sewer.

I disagree with the move. It'll kill the discussion and this is a discussion board that's already suffering from a loss of contributors. This move doesn't help develop interest in the forum.

What would you suggest with regard to WD's inappropriate remarks?

To clarify, it would be easy to prune out just the Telestial comments, but the attendant job of pruning out the quotes thereof and replies thereunto would be exponentially more difficult.

The FAIRness in media doctrine would suggest that the former greats of the Maxwell Institute be given an opportunity to perform an exorcism on young Savanah to drive out any gay demons implanted in her by Mr. Dehlin.

The problem with people deriding this as staged is because the essential message is in line with reality and church policy. For every Savannah who speaks out, there are many more who feel like she does, or have felt that way at some point. Her hopes and pains are real and represent those of many others from before, in today, and tomorrows to come. I'm pretty sure for instance, a very good friend of mine will hit this issue as a brick wall at some point if her son comes out. I think he is probably gay, but even if he isn't, others are.

So this story is truth of the truest kind. And look at Savannah's face! Pure sweetness!

Truth will out.
