The FF were profoundly skeptical of standing armies as they viewed them as a fundamental threat to liberty. There was extensive debate over the extent this concern should be built into the law and is related to why the second amendment exists. The idea of triumphant military parades called by a demagogic president just to celebrate military power in the nation's capital would be anathema to them. More generally, militaristic nationalism is antithetical to what they were about.
