how does the OP bring this rather skewed opinion to light?...and are you suggesting the FF did not like to celebrate the military?

The FF were profoundly skeptical of standing armies as they viewed them as a fundamental threat to liberty. There was extensive debate over the extent this concern should be built into the law and is related to why the second amendment exists. The idea of triumphant military parades called by a demagogic president just to celebrate military power in the nation's capital would be anathema to them. More generally, militaristic nationalism is antithetical to what they were about.

It would be funny if Trump, during the parade, was dressed in full dictator regalia with medals down to the hemline and oversized aviator glasses.

Your sure this was not a point of debate among the FFs and not an agreed upon principle? Because the Constitution those fellas put together (e.g. Article 1 Section 8) clearly disagrees with your assertion here.

You forgot to mention the Constitution, Article 1 Section 8.....and the 2nd Amendment is more likely because an army/navy was hanging around. But again, you are just throwing out "arguable" as a means to support the rather weak claim in the OP.

Arguable.

This parade has yet to reveal itself as such, and perhaps you just simply have more details on the parade than the rest of us........but your prejudicial presuppositions on all points is duly noted.

by the way, speaking of militaristic nationalism - i just found out we have a Veterans Day and Memorial Day....go figure.

The section that allows Congress to appropriate funds to raise an army specifically caps it at 2 years because of fear of standing armies. They recognized the occasional need for an army, but we're troubled by it standing.

You are citing a section of the Constitution that does not support your point. The 2nd amendment provided a means for national defense that was supposed to help obviate the need for standing armies. It early drafts, this was explicitly stated.

Arguable.

In the sense that people like you will argue anything and only in that sense.

Meh. I don't really have a problem with a military parade.
