I looked it up and you're right. From an article, not supplying a link.
The host’s remarks, including the epithet, were scripted, a spokeswoman for TBS said. When the segment was broadcast, the offending word was bleeped out, but it was left uncensored on the clip that was posted online. TBS removed the video from its site on Thursday afternoon.
So apparently the line didn't air so...I don't know where this leaves us? Wonder how/why the uncensored clip was posted to start with and by whom? Who knows...
The difference is Roseanne has a long history of this. She's been a very raunchy and crude personality for decades. She once burned cookies in the oven and called them "Jew cookies" and thought that was cool to say. She grabbed her vagina and spit after screaming the anthem at a ball game, and Republicans still embrace her and don't consider this disrespecting the flag. But a black person kneeling at the request of a white Green Beret? That's anti-American.
Yup. One subtle correction though, you wrote:
She grabbed her vagina and spit She was mimicking the behavior/mannerisms of some male baseball players. I don't plan to go into details.
There is probably nothing more offensive or socially unacceptable than calling a black person an "ape" in this day and age and Roseanne knows this, but does it anyway. Women calling other women "cunts" isn't at all uncommon. If Bee were a man it would be a sexist slur, but she isn't and so the effect is minimized quite a bit. It is like when black people call other black people the N word, which is like all the friggin time.
Yeah, mostly I agree.
