....The longer the benefits last, the longer they don't look for work.

Yes, I've done this sometimes myself... Though, I've always had good reason... doing it for a specific purpose or need. I do not just "take advantage" ....
Ah faqs, your logic is utterly assailable, as usual.
Well let's check the "logic" then...

There are people who do something out of "laziness", and then there are people who do things out of "need" or some other specific purpose.
Now tell me... What do you not understand about that "logic"?

Let's break it down further...

You have one person who's just being lazy, taking advantage.
You then have another person who:
- Develops health issues that take some time to resolve.
- Has some family issue to take care of.
- Has become burned out and needs to take a break from work for a short time.
- Developed some depression due to being falsely terminated, or losing a job in which they were getting somewhere finally.

These among many other possiblity's can be "good reasons" why someone would use unemployment for a longer period in order to take care of them. They are NOT the same as someone just being "lazy".

If you don't understand this logic, then you have problems.

So you understand then, that your examples above could be the case for every single person on unemployment, right?

If so, then your position is that there are good reasons for people to use unemployment benefits, right?

You also seem to be arguing that automatically calling people “lazy” who are using unemployment benefits is inappropriate. If so, good for you for being mature and understanding.

There is a certain attitude I've noticed among people who call themselves conservative to think everyone else has the worst motives for what they do, while their own motives for doing the exact same things are pure. It's a kind of emotional idiocy, and it looks like unabashed hypocrisy. I'm pretty sure that informs their political opinions.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
