Somewhere out there a kid was born to wealthy parents, fell into drugs, overcame it, went to school and studied very hard, and then went on to Wall Street to make a lot of money. In his narrative, his life wasn't easy and he worked for what he had.

A story I recall from the news many years ago. This black guy is recently homeless walking the streets with his son. Trying to sort out everything in his head, he's in a parking lot and stops a white guy wearing a suite getting into a nice car (or something like that). He asks the white guy what he does for a living. The white guy says he's a stock broker. So this black guy just obsesses over this revelation; that was his way out. They didn't explain how he got there, but he eventually became a stockbroker and went on to start his own firm. At the time of his interview, he was very rich. His index and second fingers on one hand were crooked from dialing so many phone numbers.

The largest constraint to success and wealth is where you're born. All these background factors sort of like what Ajax says, will bias opportunities. The black guy in the example beat the odds in one sense, but at the same time, his latent abilities and traits were still a factor as was where he was born. A child born in Mexico to poor farmers won't have that same opportunity; not that those odds can't be defied either but as a society we first think about averages.

In your narrative a kid is born into a false religion to inbred parents and is raised in a degenerate culture. The kid has a lower than average IQ and isn't capable of much but somehow the lack of pigmentation in his skin alone gives him such privilege that he becomes more successful than people who came from superior urban and suburban cultures and upbringing who actually worked harder and were more talented than him in every way only to achieve less.
