I contacted the owner of the original Thrive logo and alerted him, he said he'd be contacting his lawyer. I imagine a cease and desist letter at the very least would go out to John/Clint.

Re: Problematic John Dehlin, a short list
I saw there was a recent podcast on MS titled something along the lines of "Letting THRIVE die". I wonder if it has anything to do with this.

No, my question was why set up Thrive as both a non-profit and an LLC at the same time? And what assurance do donors have that their money is being funneled through the non-profit and not the for-profit? The website says Thrive is fully transparent in its finances, yet you can't find any finances anywhere.

The title was actually "Should we let Thrive DIE??"
It was a clickbait-y attempt to drive Thrive donations and announce that Clint and John were stepping off the Thrive board. Which, again, is suspect since Thrive exists as both a non-profit under Clint's name and an LLC under John's name.

So you had this information when you made your claim about Thrive not being a nonprofit?drumdude wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 5:19 pmHere is the link Dehlin provided regarding Thrive’s tax exempt status:

It's not uncommon for someone to use a name as a DBA, then decide to make a new organization named after the original dba. It doesn't appear that anything is being done with the LLC. The IRS is almost a year behind in processing non-priofit paperwork. But of course, since it's Dehlin, it must be suspicious, amirite?jpatterson wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 5:37 pmNo, my question was why set up Thrive as both a non-profit and an LLC at the same time? I don't suspect you monitor the internet for trademark violations, just Dehlin. Hence, I'm not surprised that you contacted a person/entity that could cause Dehlin pain. Perhaps we should start calling you the "Dehlin Monitor" or perhaps "Dr. Dehlin Monitor?" Frankly, I don't get your passion for getting Dehlin. He is running a small niche operation. Not many outside of mormonland are interested in finding out how Mormon leaders trick their members. What do you care if he makes a few bucks off of exposing the nonsense and then having a transition service?jpatterson wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 5:39 pmIf I owned a business I would absolutely want to know if someone was ripping off my branding so brazenly.
You wouldn't?

This is just another example of you jumping to conclusions based on incomplete information. Thrive does not exist as an LLC.jpatterson wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 5:38 pmThe title was actually "Should we let Thrive DIE??"
