How petty. Lance was casting pearls before swine.
I’ve notice DCP is back to his normal copy paste routine. A few sentences of preface, wall of someone else’s text, and 20 comments of mindless praise. Wash rinse cash the paycheck and go out to eat with the wife.
What a life, huh?

He's too busy writing and traveling and making his testimony movies to be bothered with a silly blog. His fans should feel lucky that he does as much as he does. Just give 5 stars to whatever he says and remind him how amazing he is so the devil won't win and shut up otherwise.drumdude wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 11:09 pmHow petty. Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

He banned Lance two days ago, but somehow, yesterday, the ‘ban’ function didn’t work.drumdude wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 11:09 pmHow petty. Lance was casting pearls before swine.

I suppose you can’t play the victim without an alleged victimizer. I say “alleged” because we can’t see what these shadow-banned posters write, only what DCP tells people they write. How convenient for him.DanielPeterson Mod dCyl • 15 hours ago
dCyl: "All banned now, I hope.
Alas, no. For some reason, the Disqus "ban" function doesn't seem to be working. Yet. That would certainly be a neat way of dealing with this poor wretch -- and an appropriately inglorious way, as well.
So… only his word that this is one single person, and that they wrote those things, which of course he interprets as them persecuting him. Of course he can’t ban them. (Well, they would also have to exist first…)DanielPeterson Mod • 20 hours ago • edited •★★★★★

At 50 minutes ago, "Chapstick" appeared here, posted a brief note denouncing the Church as a "cult" and gave this blog entry a one-star rating. Three minutes later, "Professor Sham Wow" arrived to briefly accuse me of unethical behavior and give this blog entry a one-star rating. "Defund the Police" arrived here three minutes thereafter to post a very short personal insult and to give this blog entry a one-star rating. Two minutes after that, "Professor Midge" posted the address of the Peterson Obsession Board and gave this blog entry yet another one-star rating.
Perhaps another such independent thinker has arrived since I began to write this comment.
It's pure coincidence, I'm sure, that all four arrived in such quick succession -- just as they always do. Great minds such as theirs clearly run in packs. It certainly couldn't be that this is merely one single deeply pathetic individual. Could it?

Dan Peterson just said - “But it’s important to take a stand for civility," and then he starts calling posters "poor wretches"... erm....... Mormonism in a nutshell...

He also said not to long ago that he would let people who disagree with him stay.
But rating his blog at anything below 5 stars is now a shadow bannable offense. You can only voice your disagreement if you rate his post 5 stars and accept the abuse heaped on you by the midge and his mindless minions.
The echo chamber is complete.

He’s back to lazily plagiarizing himself:
This entry starting with
is an exact word-for-word piece he wrote for DN back in 2011 here:

It saddens me to see Mr. Peterson fall back into his old habits. I noticed this exchange from SEN newcomer “Jackson Pollack” (spiffy!) making a gentle observation:

This entry starting with
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... -week.htmlVirtually all historians, of all religious opinions, agree that Jesus was crucified. The New Testament says that he died just prior to Passover.

What do professionals think of self-plagiarism?
- scribbler.comCan you plagiarize yourself? Yes, reusing your own work without acknowledgment is considered self-plagiarism. This can range from re-submitting an entire assignment to reusing passages or data from something you've turned in previously without citing them.

- writer.com
While self-plagiarism is not illegal in most cases, it is frowned upon and can cause ethical issues since it is considered to be dishonest and a form of literary theft. The biggest problem with self-plagiarism is that you are misleading the audience by trying to pass off an older piece of content into new work.

DCP took umbrage with it, of course:Jackson Pollack

I would like to see more original commentary from the author. He shows promise as a writer, but lacks originality as a thinker, which is shown by the volume of copying and pasting works from others.
I noticed DCP attempted afterward a couple of days of “original writing”, but alas, the lazy bones is back to his old tricks.

Jackson Pollack: "I would like to see more original commentary from the author."
Be patient. Originality isn't my principal goal on this blog. If I have anything original to say -- and, of course, I may not -- some of it, at least, will appear elsewhere. But I'll likely announce it here.
Jackson Pollack: "He shows promise as a writer, but lacks originality as a thinker, which is shown by the volume of copying and pasting works from others."
Since I've explicitly and repeatedly explained that one of the functions that this blog serves in my daily writing (which extends considerably beyond this blog) is to share notes that I've drawn from my reading, it seems something of a non sequitur to conclude from the fact that I share notes from my reading here that I'm incapable of original thinking, But then, non sequiturs may be your personal form of original thinking, JP, and I wouldn't want to disparage that.
I'm impressed to see that at least two people -- yourself included -- who have never posted comments here before have now materialized in order to give me very low ratings. Pure coincidence, I'm sure.

I'm not sure I understand the connection between disagreeing with a Mormon apologist and torturing children and animals.DP wrote:PL:. "I just tried unsuccessfully to edit my earlier comment to add a star rating and a message appeared saying "thread ratings are disabled for this site". Is this more hater mischief?"
No. It was just me taking away the hater's principal reason for living. Pretty unchristian of me, I suppose.
I had never even noticed the ratings before the hater began weaponizing them. And, while I very much appreciate all those who have stepped up to overwhelm his venomous spite, I think that simply doing away with the star-rankings is the neatest solution. I'd been blogging for a solid decade before I knew about them, and I won't miss them now that they're gone.
If you should happen to hear the very loud sound of the gnashing of teeth, mingled with howls of exasperated rage, that will be the hater. But he'll get over it. Though probably only after torturing several small puppies to death or setting fire to an orphanage.
Surely this learned doctorate of philosophy isn't poisoning the well, right?
In any case, the well has been completely sterilized and the echo chamber installed over top. Furthermore, Dan is looking into a system whereby patheos commenters are limited to full tithe paying (gross, not net) Mormons with active temple recommends. You know, just to keep out all the puppy torturers and rapists.
