I feel badly for my friends at BYU. I doubt they want to be at Liberty University. There is already such a place. BYU doesn’t need to aspire to be another one. Didn’t BYU-I already achieve that goal? Let’s hear it for a little variety! If you want to go to a four-year seminary with some worldly facts thrown in, go to BYU-I. If you want to go to a university with a bunch of sharp LDS kids, BYU Provo for you!

I did a quick search for professors fired from Liberty University. I found a couple of them that were fired for sexual assault and racist comments. I don't see any that were fired for failing to toe the line.

If there are any, please provide links, I would like to see what happened. If there are none, wouldn't this leave BYU as being already worse than Liberty?

Thanks, FP! You may be right! I am a little skeptical regarding what a quick search will turn up, but it may be that even Liberty would not dump profs as easily as BYU does. Let’s face it, if a BYU faculty member must have a recommend to stay employed there, then they can easily be let go for non-academic reasons. This EOC situation is downright scary, making a terrible situation even worse.

This theoretically could happen if a BYU Professor gave an explanation of a past doctrine that was supposed to remain hidden during Mitt Romney's run for the Presidency or wrote a letter to the SL Tribune expressing an opinion. As they say during holy wartime, "loose compassion sinks handcarts".
