DCP's backhanded compliment to the late former pope

Post by drumdude »

Many Catholics find it more than a little disrespectful to refer to Pope Benedict as Joseph Ratzinger. And I'm sure they might not think too highly of the Pope's service to the Lord characterized as a mere attempt.

I find this very interesting coming from a Mormon who is in line with Rusty Nelson's agenda to forcefully strike the word Mormon from the tongues of every man, woman, and child on Earth.

Chubby Steve tries to get DCP to understand this, but with DCP it's like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip.

Which infuriates the Midge.

Instead, we should grasp the fact that we should be seeking to be sanctified Latter-day Saints as members of the Church of Jesus Christ. We should shed the idea we are merely involved in a motley "ism."

Mormonism slapped the name of Christ onto its false product and then argues that because it has that name, it is proof that it is a Christian church.

So goofy to go all Danite on people, when no adequate word substitute has been offered. Just because President Nelson feels a need to camouflage his religious affiliation does not mean the world has to cope with a word paucity.

Has Joseph Ratzinger's proxy Mormon Temple work been done yet?

Wow. That is an incredibly offensive thing for DCP to write.

Catholics realise that Mormons aren't Catholics. Few of them can be expecting Peterson to recognise a Pope Emeritus as having been the Vicar of Christ and all that.

What I find a little hard to take, though, is the combination of (a) freely expressing disparaging Mormon views about other faiths, yet also (b) complaining when other people express their views about Mormonism, for instance by saying "Mormonism" instead of "the Church of Jesus Christ".

Some people need to decide whether to eat the cake or have it. I'm not sure Mormons like Peterson and Midgley have any right at all to expect the rest of the world to pay any lip service to their sectarian claims, but they sure as heck forfeit any right they might have had to that kind of courtesy, if they fail to extend that courtesy to other faiths.

For an one so high and mighty in the world his work for the dead was done several years earlier without him knowing it. THAT ONE does NOT get away!
After some time serving and getting worthy, he shall achieve the office of Deacon so he can pass the sacrament in the Spirit World for a few millenia before advancing in the offices of the Aaronic Priesthood. He like all others must show obedience and worthiness before receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood in the Spirit World.

Drumdude, can you confirm that Midgley really said this and you weren't writing it as parody?

And a bonus:

I have long had a high regard for the now late Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. He was a very gifted academic. I was sorry when he retired from serving as the head of the Roman Catholic Church. My own hunch is that he resigned when he faced enormous difficulty in dealing with very serious moral problems among Roman Catholic clergy at all level in many places, one especially painful one involved someone who had been a close friend. I cannot bring myself to go into the details which my wife and I once learned when visiting a place I will not identify in Europe. Prior to being elected Pope, Ratzinger was head of the agency that long ago was known as the Inquisition. In this role, he was known for being very strong on insisting that Roman Catholics at all levels manifest fidelity to the foundations of Christian faith in both teachings and behavior.

And finally, his arrogant and condescending take on a well known and well-liked New Yorker:

Mariano Rivera was a remarkably able baseball player. Most often, when he was called upon to pitch late in a game, down went the other side. He was and is a fine human being. He would (and eventually will) also make an excellent Latter-day Saint.
