Who makes the decision on his replacement?
I recall that the search for Bradford’s replacement was conducted by a committee chaired by a BYU associate academic vice president. (ETA: https://mi.BYU.edu/now-accepting-nomina ... e-director.) Candidates are probably interviewed by the academic vice president. A general authority (Elder Holland would be the ideal pick since he scolded the Institute in 2018) likely conducts an additional interview. If I had to guess, I’d say that the Ecclesiastical Coordination Office frisks candidates at some point for possession of a current and valid temple recommend. Who makes the final selection? I have no idea.

You omitted an important step, Tom.

Which one of these worthy men do you think gets to do the creepy garment check by feeling the candidate's thigh?

Good question. I’d recommend putting a priesthood holder who works in the Ecclesiastical Coordination Office in charge of conducting all of BYU’s worthiness screening. A one-stop shop, if you will.

If it were up to me, I'd stuff DCP into the vacancy. They've basically been pulling taffy since 2012.

I’d love to see Dan’s bitter response if he was asked to step back in!

That might give him a chance to finish his two books he's working on...

I've heard intriguing rumors that the Ghost Committee, chaired by William Tyndale, will conduct the search for Dr. Fluhman's successor.

Acting on faith that the rumors are true, last night I channeled a list of candidates for the Ghost Committee to consider. (Only one name has an affiliation with the Interpreter Foundation. I find that deeply significant.)

Phil Barlow
Lincoln Blumell
S. Kent Brown
Jim Faulconer
Nick Frederick
Fiona Givens
Terryl Givens
Matthew Gray
Grant Hardy
Steve Harper
David Holland
Jeffrey Holland
Shon Hopkin
Janiece Johnson
Adam Miller
Robert Millet
Kerry Muhlestein
Reid Neilson
Stephen Ricks
David Seely
Royal Skousen (of course)
Joseph Spencer
Gaye Strathearn
Thom Wayment
Rosalynde Frandsen Welch
John Welch

Sorry, but I'm not impressed with your "channeling" powers.

Where is Rev K? - not on your list!
Where is Gad? - not on your list!
Where is BYP? - not on your list!
Where is Marcus? - not on your list!
Where is Shulem? - not on your list!

...

I could go on and on (my wife says I frequently do), but I think you get the point ;)

Blast it! I knew I came out of the trance too early! Let me add those and other names to the list (see above). (Incidentally, I hope the Dean will clarify whether Cassius would grant leave to faculty members and affiliates to pursue this unique opportunity.)

As for "Tom," I flunked out of Cassius and lack the requisite qualifications.
