Well, I read your post and it has a ‘two sides of the same coin’ feel to it. I just wanted to see if you had some notions where an ex-Mormon pod caster could avoid mirroring the cult in both behavior and tone.

Its a fair thought you have there. I figured my critical comments about his message spelled a few things out. But, if you're looking for more from me, I'm afraid I don't have it.
Your point resonates with me. After I left the LDS church, I threw myself into parenthood, my graduate work, and subsequent academic endeavors. I don’t think I read another LDS themed post until I found mD forum, some 25-30 years later. Then, I had a little more time and began reading. This forum was a tremendous source.

What was quite disturbing was how much sexism there still was, even here. Consiglieri’s latest comment to me on this thread was to ask if I was “high-strung.” He gave no response to my comment other than to post this. Based on my observations, his responses to posters he knows are women invariably includes some demeaning, pejorative term.

There are plenty of places to get full information about various things I am interested in, including my Mormon background, and listening to someone who I know, through first-hand experience, regularly demeans and disparages posters with sexist stereotypes once he learns they are female is not one of them. The world of experiences is far too large to waste time on a podcaster who does that.

You're not the only one who has noticed this and it makes me uncomfortable every time he does it. I believe he means it in a joking manner but it still comes across very badly.

I really appreciate this. I’ve kept distance from consiglieri for the very reasons you mention. I hear what you’re saying and am sorry I haven’t shown the type of support you deserve. I don’t think it’s funny either.

I said a lot of things I wouldn't say now in the rosebud thread. She was (in my mind) accusing Dehlin of actual rape. I believe she was even behind the website calling Dehlin a pedophile.

I think that's the place Consig was commenting from, I know it was for me. We didn't want to see someone who was innocent of the charges defamed like that without rebuttal.

But I would treat it much differently now. Looking back there was way too much dogpiling, and all of it because she fit the stereotype of a "lying/crazy/bitter scorned woman."

thanks. No apologies necessary-- people's standpoints come through, and I have felt considerable support from you many times on the basis of how and what you post, as I am sure many others will agree.

Years ago, when Dehlin held a *press conference* after being excommunicated during one of those stupid church proceedings, I knew right then and there the dude was going to be a total trainwreck. The man has not disappointed and if you just look at his recent personal army requests for fans to collect screenshots to be used in possible litigation, the ridiculous histrionics for self-inflicted woes is genuinely entertaining.

That being said, there was a question I wanted to pose:

When the evidence comes out, I think it will show quite the reverse—that the one who wanted Maven fired wasn’t John…
Real talk: Why do you defend John so ardently? I don’t get devil’s advocate vibes or that you are just trying to keep things interesting, but that you earnestly going to bat for the dude. I don’t understand why you’d do this for someone who is so consistently absurd in their behavior.

I’m getting the impression lowrance has some unresolved past trauma with a Mormon lawyer. Potentially one of RFM’s many ex wives?
The problem I have with RFM and others who enjoy religious denigration is that they fail to appreciate the importance of protecting people's right to practice their faith freely. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are 20 gods, or no God." RFM and other con artists recognize the truth in what Thomas Jefferson so eloquently stated, but they know there's no profit to be made from Jefferson's optimistic worldview. If RFM wants to attract more listeners and, by extension, more customers, he needs to highlight the negative aspects of Mormonism. To use an analogy, he and John are the Al Sharptons of exmormonism.

I mean, he has a business relationship with him, there are joint podcasts, Consig speaks at Open Stories Foundation (Thrive) events. And in the case of Maven, she also works with Consig, and i interpret it as him standing up for a colleague.

This is why you need to read Consig's JD posts with all of this in mind.

Are you saying Consig is against people living their religion? if so, I don't think we are listening to the same podcasts.
