Fox News has breathlessly weighed in.

I don't think Cuomo getting caught with his pants down for Israel helped. Also, I know N.Y. is pretty liberal, however, I don't think they were ready for his slogan "when I think about Israel I touch myself." He should go back to sexually assaulting his staff and leave Israel alone. They have too many important matters right now to have to deal with this guy.
How many millionaires and billionaires are going to stick around in New York City to stand in the bread lines at government controlled grocery store? What worries me is that when this happens, these same leftists who voted for communism will just start pouring into Florida and continue voting in accordance with their failed ideology. DeSantis is going to need to put a ban on immigration by anyone who voted for this guy. They can go to Cuba or Venezuela but they are not welcome in Florida.
simple thoughts from a simple mind. There aren't any rules in America that apply to billionaires now, why would this one be any different? You could have figured that out for yourself if there was more inside your head than a broken wheel, and a hamster in klan hood.

Well, there’s an interesting angle on fearmongering. Suggesting that Mamdani is replacing all of NYC’s grocery stores, coupled with concern that millionaires and billionaires will be forced to wait in a line somewhere.

The actual idea is to open one city-run store per borough. The objective is to offer lower pricing, but my own opinion is that there’s little chance of that happening. Typical grocery store margins are quite low to begin with, and there are a variety of factors affecting end pricing of goods that would remain outside of the City’s control.

Reason has a good, short article on the challenges of meeting this goal:

https://reason.com/2025/06/25/zohran-ma ... er-prices/

You may enjoy reading it, ajax; at the end of the article, it’s even suggested that the end result will mimic government-run stores in Venezuela - your favorite whipping boy socialist target. The conditions allowing that dysfunction don’t really exist in NYC in any comparable way, though.

This proposal makes more sense if Mamdani was instead focused on addressing the City’s ‘food desert’ situation as described in the article linked below, as opposed to trying to affect pricing.

Poor millionaires and billionaires having to deal with the specter of an upstart that wants to give the people a small break.
And right on cue, here’s billionaire grocery store owner John Catsimatidis making threats to pull out of the City if Mamdani is elected:

As if Mamdani’s plan, even if implemented, would seriously affect Catsimatidis bottom line or personal fortune.

I think there is an overreaction to his election going on, but I could be mistaken. It seems when someone is looking out for the people, like say pushing for higher wages, better working conditions or reasonable rent, they are branded as communists or socialists and the fearmongering starts. Poor millionaires and billionaires having to deal with the specter of an upstart that wants to give the people a small break.
Gotta say... loved this post.

There's an interesting and obvious difference here: Trump claims to be doing all sorts of things to help ordinary working Americans, including cutting the price of eggs by 400%, deporting cheap labour so that wages will rise, and so on.

Billiionaires love Trump. The media they control does whatever it can to boost him.

Mamdani says he will do all sorts of things to help ordinary working Americans too,

Billionaires hate Mamdani. The media they control does whatever it can to destroy and generally 'monster' him.

On that basis, which one of the two would you judge seems to the billionaires more likely to give ordinary working Americans an economic lift that might involve billionaires getting a very slightly smaller slice of the national cake? Hmm., that's really hard ...

Well, I wasn’t expecting this reaction to Mamdani’s primary win, but here we are.

One Republican pundit predicted last night that the Jews of New York will move to Miami. He was not envisioning the DeSantis Tiki Torches.

There will be no overreaction as long as the communists stay out of Red America. But sadly communism rarely is content to stay within its own borders.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
